Northerngal Maybe I shouldn't have asked. Sorry if I made anyone cross. I will be thinking twice before I ask anything else..... To be honest no one said anything cross towards you in anyway so no need to be over sensitive and think that you need to "think twice" before asking a question. Your question facilitated a semi interesting discussion about natural flavouring really.

OK, noted. You are right, noone did say anything cross towards me, I didn't think anyone had. It was a "just in case" comment. I meant I prolly should word my questions better in future. Thank you for your comment.

indie Mobster Northerngal uh oh!! hope I'm not in trouble for asking....I can't remember where it was as I was surfing around and just caught this blog?...maybe not an actual "article" article..it was someone who said they were phasing out the MP whey and trying to find a product that was "natural" without bits and bobs in...I translated that in my head as being "nasties"....I was surprised cos I was recommended to MP by others and am on my second bag of unflavoured whey, and when I read about it on the MP site I couldn't see anything untowards in the ingredients myself...errm....I did try to find it again this morning so I could advise you where it was but as I was meandering about from site to site It could have been anywhere....if its any use for you to know...I won't be chucking out my bag anytime soon.....sorry I couldn't be more precise.... Go look at your internet history and see where you were 'just surfing'. Then you can copy the link. Same reply as mine. You pushing your post count up? Do I get a prize if I do?

As a link has been posted to a post I wrote on my blog, I thought I would come and clear up any confusion. Not once have I posted that MyProtein products have *nasties* in them and have never had a problem with MP products. I have been a very loyal customer to MP for the last 3 years and will continue to be a customer. I am extremely happy with the both the products and service from MP and recommend them to anyone asking for supplements as I have found them to be of the highest quality. My reason for phasing out whey protein is nothing to do with MP but that I am trying to eliminate anything artificial from my diet. Sadly, this means phasing out whey protein because it contains artificial sweeteners. This is a personal choice and has no bearing on any of the products which MP sell. When my supply of whey has ran out, I will still purchase my supplements from them, but will switch to either the raw hemp protein or the brown rice protein. I hope this clears anything up, the last thing I want to do is upset MP, who I value very highly.

I would have thought an unflavoured milk whey product would be less processed and contain less other ingredients than that of brown rice/hemp as well as being a better biological value and lower in carbs!

Well, the organic hemp protein from My Protein is actually a raw product, is not heat treated and has no artifical sweeteners which is why I opted for that. Out of 9g of carbs, 8g is actually fibre so the carb level doesn't bother me. Anyway, my issue is not with which protein supplement I want to use but the fact that someone has posted saying she has read there are nasties in My Protein products and someone has bloody included a link to my blog suggesting that it was me. It wasn't!

Hey no worries JAG, it was not NG who suggested it was your site but HSD and even then NG doesn't think it was your site so no one is thinking any worse of you and you've at least now been grabbed by the claws of MT and I hope you continue to post. We all have a preference for what we like and I am a fan of unflavoured whey as I hate articficial flavoured milkshakey type drinks. I now use CNP Propep vanilla and add coffee to it cos I don't like the sweetness!!

I suggested that your post *might* have been the original entry that the OP then interpreted as 'nasties'. Apologies if my post didn't come across in this fashion.

Hey Kitty, thanks a lot :) I'm really pleased to have found MT actually, I'm a complete forum whore so now I have another diet/fitness forum to chat on - yay! Gotta say, you look amazing! I'm nowhere near your standard but have hopes of an amateur figure comp in the future.

Yeah, it was only when I went back and read *properly* that I read and now I feel like a bit of a dork for over-reacting. Sorry

It wasn't! I did find your comment about the processing interesting. While I've read what CNP had to say about low heat/less harsh processing methods and am familiar with the use of such phrases as 'denaturing' what difference do you think it makes to the end result? In other words does it affect how you look or your gains? Thus far there is no actual data to support this.

Truthfully? I don't know what difference it is likely to make (I really don't like that smiley, it looks like I'm calling you a wanker!) I just know I want to try and eat as natural a diet as possible and IMO, artificial sweeteners don't fit in with that.

I just know I want to try and eat as natural a diet as possible and IMO, artificial sweeteners don't fit in with that. But as per the replies on your blog and your own admittance unflavoured whey, regardless of harsh or otherwise processing doesn't contain sweetener - natural or otherwise. It's a logic thing. The guys that pushed cold processed whey in bodybuilding circles were only able to argue that they thought it MAY be beneficial. Outside of that group it was only recommended to people with very specific medical conditions. On that basis none of what you're looking for applies. Unflavoured whey has no sweetener (All in ones did but they no longer do that) and cold processed whey has not been proven to be better for what we want.

Thanks for the information, it's very helpful. Even if benefits haven't been proven, it's still something I want to try. I've always liked trying new things and over the course of the last 12 months whilst I've been transforming my shape, I've experimented a fair bit so this is all part of the process To the guys who were curious about how I found my blog had been linked, I suddenly had a lot of hits from this site so decided to check out what the fuss was

Fair enough. Keep a log and note the difference, if any. One of the more likely results, over muscle recovery, is health. This should be, in accordance with what may be true, the higher amounts of 'good fractions'.
