My short legs!!

( #1 )
I'm only 5'4 with obviously short legs! My point being that during bench press I don't seem to get a decent footing in that I cant plant my heels due to the bench height/leg length difference,i alway seem to be on tiptoes. This probably results in bad technique as i cant keep everything tight(arch/lats etc), this probably engages the shoulders more, which has now resulted in rotator cuff issues. I'm hoping after physio has run its course that i will be able to continue with bench, but was wondering if anyone has ideas to get a decent footing, short of cutting the legs off my bench!

You can bench fine on the toes if you get an nice arch set tight etc. You can get a better arch doing so and arguably get tighter from doing so. Many powerlifting feds allow it. Failing that plonk 2 plates on the deck and use as blocks.

Put your feet up on the bench together this will take strain off your back if they are dangling in mid-air. Or find a lower bench!!
