Not sure where they all are at the moment, it was a good few years back when i last went to a club.

The community centre on Lincoln Road used to have various martial arts going on over different nights, the one in Millfield.

I know my old Ju Jutsu instructor still has classes, i think it's over at Bushfields!? He's out fairly regular at the weekends so i often see him, i'll double check with him next time.

Nice one mate. Can you ask him if he does 1:1 or 1:2.
I wanna learn to snap things.

Haha! Yeah, they used to teach plenty of that!

Doubt he does the likes of one to one, he's a local copper.

The teaching was always pretty realistic, as long as his job has'nt changed it to now being 'more in line with the law'

      Lol, this city is crap.
I have a 2000sq ft rubber floored room available for rent at the gym to a decent martial arts class and no interest. Nothing. There's precious little classes and stuff around here. I catagorically do NOT want to learn some form of pattern-based art. I wanna learn the real-world nasty stuff.

Thats just how i was when i started, i never had any interest in going to Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do type classes.

About 12 or so years ago there used to be a very good choice around here, Muay Thai, Ju Jutsu, Wing Chun, Aikdo, Boxing all very local. There was even somewhere doing Eskrima at one point. It all seems to have died down a bit now, although i hav'nt been looking so maybe some of it still goes on!?

This evening i worked my biceps.

          Barbell Curls (EZ bar)

30 reps with just the bar (warm up)
          8 reps with 50.5kg
          6 reps with 53kg
          4 reps with 55.5kg
          2 reps with 58kg

          Seated Alternate Dumbell Curls

          7 reps with 24kg
          6 reps with 24kg
          4 reps with 24kg

It's been 8 weeks since i last worked my biceps directly.

Once again my thumb was hurting during my lifts. As soon as the weight from the bar is directed downwards into the crook between my thumb and finger it hurts!

But overall it was'nt too bad a workout.

Alright mate how you doing? ? ?

Is the starting strength program you are on, the program by Rippetoe? ? ?

I have been reading about it lately, seems an awesome program, if it is the one you are using.

Now that im getting back into a routine im pretty happy. When im out of shape and not training it often reflects into my day to day life and i can get moody and irritable quickly. So getting back into it all is helping me in ways other than just training.

The routine is just what i put together myself.

It's fairly basic really, only free weights, just 2 basic exercises per bodypart, low reps, hit each bodypart hard 'n heavy once a week! Job done...

This evening i worked my legs and shoulders.

                Squats

10 reps with 60kg (warm up)
                5 reps with 110kg
                4 reps with 110kg
                2 reps with 115kg
                2 reps with 115kg

                Military Press

                8 reps with 60kg
                6 reps with 65kg
                3 reps with 70kg
                1 rep with 75kg

                Standing Dumbell Press

                6 reps with 27.5kg
                3 reps with 30kg

Legs - I was not very happy with my volume for squats, would of liked more reps. Will see how it goes next week with the same weight, if i don't get more reps i may drop the weight slightly.

Shoulders - Tonight was the first time in a few years that i have directly worked my shoulders. I used a thumbless grip on the barbell as my sore thumb made a full grip uncomfortable. I was pleased with the lifting and the weight used. I also enjoyed doing the lift, it will now be one of the lifts that i look forward to each week.

Tonight was a fcuking sh!t workout!!!!

To say i was p!ssed off would be an understatement!!! Ended up just throwing the dumbells around at the end!!!

Felt weak as sh!t on the first working set of flat benching. Diet today was cr@p really, although it was clean the volume of food was low and the timing of meals was sh!t!

Tonight will be bed before midnight, cardio in the morning and decent eating throughout the day!

mate woahhh. chill **** happens. now you know that tomorrow will be better the best advice i can give you is the advice you gave me when i was down. look at it accept it, realise why it happend then you will be able to further prevent it in the future. Try to wake in the morning with a positive attitude because you know it will be better than today.
                        Good luck

                          Thanks for your comments.

Don't worry, im fine now. Was just a bit angry during and after the workout. Sometimes i wonder what my neighbours are thinking when im banging and swearing!

It did'nt make me feel down at all, just angry.

It's fine now though, i generally don't let things like that put me back a step anyway. Even at the time i'd already thought 'this is just a minor hitch' and 'get the workout finished then i can put it right afterwards' which is what i will do tomorrow.

                          Thanks again though.

u look so much more ripped the last pic than the one before. its crazy how much chest was hidden by that belly. how many calories were you burning each workout when lost all that fat, or was it all jogging outside, if so was it always a 3 mile jog youd do, which i recon burns 300 calories. at the mo im burning 500 each workout, sometimes i only 250. i aim to go 5 times a week. so in a week i usually burn about 2000.

If so, my diet for them was fairly drastic and probably not advisable to everyone.

Breakfast - Large bowl of Fruit 'n Fibre with skimmed milk
Mid morning - Approx 70g chicken breast
Lunch - 140-200g chicken breast and a cereal bar
                                Mid-late afternoon - Approx 70g chicken breast
Evening (after workout) - Protein shake

The only other supplements i used was CEE for around 3-4 weeks and ECA for around 4-5 weeks.

I followed this diet 5-6 days a week and would eat what i wanted on Sundays.

I was doing 1 hour cardio on my stationary cycle 4-5 mornings a week before breakfast and weight training 4 evenings a week.

I would occasionaly do an extra 1 or 2 cardio sessions some weeks depending how i felt.

I don't know how many calories i was burning. My exercise cycle does give a reading but it will not be accurate, so there is little point in following it.

thats a tough diet there noname did you not have trouble with loosimg LBM? Maybe a little, but on the whole it was ok.

What BF do you thnk the second pic is? I would'nt have much of a clue on that, it certainly won't be all that low still. Maybe if anyone more informed is reading they could make a guess!?!?

Did you get on the cycle this morning? Will be getting on it shortly

Done a steady 30 minutes on my exercise bike this morning.

DEAD_WEIGHT, today has been a good start so im pleased with that. Last night i was just p!ssed off at the time, it's fine now.

To be honest, my thumb is'nt that bad that it warrants getting it looked at, i would probably just be told to rest it anyway.
