Yeah, pleased with the deads, feel pretty good so far this week... other than the late nights that is!

The few days rest was good and definitely helped me. I'd been thinking about just a few days off the last couple of weeks or so, just felt i could do with it. Providing you understand it, listening to your body can help a lot.

Seen there has been a bit of focus here on the morning cardio, and in Griff and Tommy H's journals, with spin bike pics as well... i thought i'd join in and, although not a spin bike, post mine up.

This evening i worked my biceps.

Barbell Curls (EZ bar)

30 reps with just the bar (warm up)
10 reps with 50.5kg
9 reps with 50.5kg
7 reps with 53kg
5 reps with 55.5kg
4 reps with 55.5kg
3 reps with 58kg

Seated Alternate Dumbell Curls

7 reps with 24kg
5 reps with 24kg
3 reps with 27.5kg
5 reps with 24kg
4 reps with 24kg

Weights and reps up since my last bicep workout, which was 2 weeks ago.

My left arm really hindered me when i used the 27.5k dumbells, the tendon (??) pain that is. Other than that it was a fairly decent workout.

Measured my bicep whilst pumped and it was 16 3/4 inches, thats a big as it's ever been. At 5'9" and 88kgs i'm quite pleased with that. It was 16 1/2 inches cold when i measured it earlier today.

Yeah, i've often trained on instinct as opposed to having a plan set in stone.

I do find it amusing at times when people rigidly stick to their 5x5 plans, or whatever the latest trend is, rather than train with a bit of instinct.

I understand a need for a basic plan to follow, but the human body is a living, breathing organism that is always changing as opposed to being stagnant like a robot, i consider that when i'm training. Just because the 'plan' say's 5 sets of 10, if i feel i can do 7 sets then i will, but then on other days it may be a struggle to get the 5 sets done.

Hmmn... not sure about the big quads for myself. I say that because i really want to focus on the strength side of things with them. Although i do also want them bigger (my lower body is pretty naff when compared to my upper body) the strength gains are my main priority for them at the moment.

Although saying that i can notice them taking a bit of shape now, but i do mean only a bit.

Yeah, it's slowly ceeping up.

Seen as squatting is fairly new to me i would like to think i should see some good gains. In my mind i'm viewing 150k plus as a reasonable figure to be squating and that is my aim. Probably a little way off yet but it should get there.

This evening i worked my chest.

Flat Bench Press

25 press ups (warm up)
15 reps with 60kg (warm up)
4 reps with 110kg

Flat Dumbell Bench Press

9 reps with 44kg
8 reps with 44kg
6 reps with 44kg
6 reps with 44kg

I went out on the town last night and did'nt get home till around 7 o'clock this morning! Slept on and off during the day and am left with a slight hangover, it was a good night though. Did'nt have much physical energy to train but in my mind i still wanted to.

The barbell bench was pretty much a nogo! The 110k felt pretty heavy so i decided that going straight to dumbells will be more beneficial... and i was right. I ended up getting a personal best in terms of reps with the 44k bells, although i realise that was mainly due to my chest being fairly fresh due to not doing much barbell work.

Overall i'm glad that i at least got some training done and got some half decent reps with the dumbells.

Er, erm... *cough, sometimes, cough*

Well, the aim is 30 minutes in the mornings at a steady pace on the bike, but my sleeping habits are not always the best and i don't get the cardio done. At the moment my weight training is priority over the cardio. Although i'm not over fussed because i know i will get it all sorted and up to standard in the end.

This evening i worked my back.

Deadlifts

12 reps with 60kg (warm up)
8 reps with 100kg (warm up)
2 reps with 140kg (warm up)
5 reps with 200kg
4 reps with 200kg
2 reps with 205kg
2 reps with 210kg
2 reps with 210kg

Wide Grip Chins

8 reps with 10kg
5 reps with 10kg
7 reps with bodyweight
5 reps with bodyweight

Tonights workout was hard! I did'nt get up till gone 12 today, not eaten much and felt weak as piss! Had 4 Pro Plus (200mg caffeine) before training and recon that made it worse!!

The first working set of deads was by far the hardest tonight. Felt very light headed after each rep and was taking around 5-10 seconds of deep breaths between each rep. Legs were like jelly! I nearly stopped the workout and thought 'i ain't doing no more' ...well thats what my body was telling me, but my mind said otherwise and i stuck it out.

Cheers Tommy, a bit of hard work does pay off with the 'feel good factor' afterwards.

Ref ECA, yeah i thought it was good. When used alongside a good clean cutting diet and cardio routine it can be a very helpfull aid. Although it's not a miracle pill or anything, just gives a little extra edge to things when cutting.

To be honest i personally won't buy the general 'over the counter' fat loss supps as i feel for what they cost they're not worth it.

The ones i used last year were pre made capsules... 25mg ephedrine, 250mg caffeine and 80mg asprin.

The asprin, i believe, is supposed to prolong the effects of the other two ingredients. I've never used it without so can't really comment, although i realise a lot of people don't use it. Certainly the main two parts are the ephedrine and caffeine.

I worked up to taking one cap before morning cardio, another late morning to early lunchtime, then the last one late afternoon. If you do use it i would suggest starting with one a day to asses your tolerance to it and then go from there.

Things are going ok with the weights, just not the cardio!

Went to bed at just gone midnight last night and layed awake for 3 hours or so, got up at 3:30am for some food, back to bed and laid awake till nearly 5am untill i finally fell asleep!

It's my own fault for not having an early night at the start of the week, because it's a knock on effect from that!... Oh well, i'm not overly fussed, i know i will get it sorted when i need to.

Well would you believe that when i got in bed i was tired and thought i would get straight to sleep, just it did'nt happen!

I've got some Sleepeaze which does work well, although i rarely use it (don't like using too many pills to aid things) ...but think i will tonight if i get to bed on time.

I also laid there for a little while thinking about when i should start cutting!! Thinking to myself i would like to carry on with gaining strength and then look to adding a bit more mass, but on the other hand i want to drop some fat for the summer... and for my general well being.

Tonights weights and reps were nicely up from last week.

Did'nt really get any pain in my arm this time, well nothing to speak of at least. I did take a couple of Ibruprofen before training as a precaution, so that may have helped.

Have felt pretty crappy today, most likely caused from the awfull nights sleep and not having much food today.

Was in two minds whether to train or not, in fact been like that most of the week. Felt very lethargic the last few days, brought on no doubt from my fcuked up sleeping and eating patterns! There is no real excuse though as i've brought it on myself by not being strict enough at the start of the week.

Oh well, i still got something done at least. Chances are i won't be doing anymore till Monday now.

Tommy

Since i've been training again i've found it easier to pass up on going out on some nights because of the impact it will have, although other times i really fancy a drink and a night out. The biggest problem is getting in at 'stupid o'clock' and sleeping through the following day.

Gaz

Doing ok at the moment thanks, last week was'nt the best but next week should be fine. Thumb is'nt 100% yet but it's nearly there, it's does'nt really effect my weight training now so thats good. I think the cold weather was making it worse before.

Deadweight

Nah, the bicep workout was fine, i got some of it done at least and now that i think about it, it did'nt really put me back any. I'm going to make the effort to start the week off on track and not have a late night tonight. Also planning to get cardio done next week as well.

Toxic,

Cheers, although my workrate could and should be better, although it's getting there at least.

Must admit from reading about your meets and training in your journal it did cross my mind. I've also got a mate that trains there and he has been on about me meeting up with him for a session there... just it really ain't my thing at all, training at a commercial gym. Although i may have a one off session there at some point.

...also 10 rep squatting is too much for me at the mo, let alone 20 reppers! Thats part of the reason i get anoyed with myself for not getting my cardio done, because at times my current fitness level impacts on my weight training, especially deads and squats.
