This evening i worked my chest. Flat Bench Press 25 press ups (warm up) 20 reps with 60kg (warm up) 5 reps with 110kg 2 reps with 115kg 1 rep with 115kg 6 reps with 100kg Flat Dumbell Bench Press 4 reps with 44kg 3 reps with 44kg Not a bad workout tonight. Strength is up nicely from last week. I used a thumbless grip again for the barbell benching as my thumb is still not 100%. The last set was just something i fancied doing, just to bang out a few more reps. I used a normal grip for the dumbell pressing, it hurt a bit and affected my lifting slightly. Although im still glad i got a couple of sets out them at least.

Cheers! As you can probably see it's not standard, it's had a fair few mods done to it and i've spent a lot on it, but it's been worth it. Certainly be interested to see pics of what bike you settle on.

Scrubby, Yeah it's a full power model. You do notice it pull a bit at speed, especially as it's very much an upright position when you ride. Looking forward to the warm dry summer weather!

This evening i worked my back. Deadlifts 15 reps with 60kg (warm up) 8 reps with 100kg (warm up) 5 reps with 185kg 2 reps with 190kg 3 reps with 190kg Wide Grip Chins 10 reps 7 reps 5 reps 5 reps Grip was good tonight, back to using chalk again. My thumb twinged a little after each set but it was'nt too bad. On the 185kg set i nearly stopped at 4 reps but i thought back to what i put in my journal after last weeks back workout "I could probably have managed another rep on each of the last 2 sets" and i thought to myself "well this week i am going to manage it!"

Cheers Rack! I pushed it for the last set of deads as well, feels better when you know you've done that little bit extra.

Hi noname, just seen your split in another thread, so you obviously feel your making decent gains on your programme, do you not find any issues with overtraining doing 5 days? Not a criticism here, im actually interested in doing something similar.

No, never have. When i first started out my life pretty much was just training, no real social life to speak of. I feel that gave me a good base, physically and mentally. I balance it all out much more nowadays though. It works for me so i stick with it. It's good for people to gather up and take in lots of information, ideas and theories then apply a bit of trial and error and then keep whats useful to them.

This evening i worked my legs. Squats 6 reps with 60kg (warm up) 4 reps with 60kg (warm up) 6 reps with 105kg 4 reps with 110kg 2 reps with 115kg 1 rep with 120kg Tonights workout started very sh!t but finished off being good! After last weeks little accident (see post #131) i thought i really need to squat inside my power rack. It felt very uncomfortable to begin with as i kept thinking the bar was going to bump into the rack and put me off. My warm ups were more for testing out what height i needed the catchers at. I really felt it was going to end up a sh!t workout but in the end i managed 2 reps with the weight i failed on last week and also got 5kg extra with the 120kg!

This evening i worked my chest. Flat Bench Press 25 Press ups (warm up) 20 reps with 60kg (warm up) 5 reps with 110kg 2 reps with 115kg 1 rep with 117.5kg 1 rep with 117.5kg (did a further 2 half reps after the 1) Flat Dumbell Bench Press 5 reps with 44kg 4 reps with 44kg 3 reps with 44kg Had a pretty good workout tonight, although the weights felt harder than last week..... probably due to todays inactivity and food intake! Todays diet was awful! Went out on the town last night and did'nt get up untill around 1pm today. Had a bowl of Fruit 'n Fibre with skimmed milk, then 3 Cadbury Cream Eggs during the afternoon washed down with mouthfulls of skimmed milk! Tomorrow i plan to start my cardio and cleaner eating!

Thumbs pretty much ok for lifting now, although i did still use a thumbless grip for most of my barbell benching as it still niggled a bit when i tried a normal grip. Looking forward to some heavy deadlifts later today! Just had a peek at your journal as well. I noticed that you seem to be going through similar stages that i used to go through. Bursts of motivation, bit of training, go out on the piss, training/diet goes to pot, then get angry with yourself because you're still fat. I also used to do the 'grabbing hold of the flab' thing! You have to get to a point where you say to yourself "fcuk it! Im not fcuking around anymore!!" and kick yourself up the ar$e to get back into it. Just think, if you had stuck with it 6 months ago where would you be right now..... a much better body most likely! So stick with it now and in 6 months time you will look back and think to yourself "thank fcuk i stuck it out"

Cheers Rack, i think a few people go through that scenario. Tommy, if you find it hard when it gets to the weekend then instead of stopping it dead, just make a gradual change. Maybe still have one night of drinking only, or allow yourself one whole day as a cheat day. Unless you are strong willed, sudden change can often lead to failure. It's a bit like adding weight to the bar... if your goal is to increase your bench press by 30kg you don't just suddenly up it by 30k as you would notice a big difference and most likely fail. You would maybe add 2.5k each week and not really notice the difference, then over time you will have built up to 30kg and succeeded in achieving your goal!
