thats good thinking noname. at the min the diet is not too bad at the weekend maybe a chineese on a sat night if i am liquored up. i only drink one night but maybe drink about 50 units of booze and leg day on the sunday nearly always suffers. the reason why i was ranting was because i ate crisps and stuff that i know that i would never toutch and i could feel standards on what i eat slipping more during the day maybe some milk or a biscuit just wee things that were really pissing me off. but i got it back on track and things are looking up it will be interesting to see what the scales say on friday morning.

Phew! Working legs after a night on the piss, don't think i'd fancy that too much! Just try not to punish yourself too much for an 'off' day, just realise whats happend and move on. Everything in moderation then slowly tighten it all up as you progress.

Wish I could do chins like that mate, 3-4 reps is about it for me at the moment, will keep at them though Nice weights on the deads, as normal.

I do like the chins and really feel it in my back, although they are hard, on the last couple of reps i can only get myself to eye level with the bar! Tonights deadlifting was hard, especially the 5 with 190kg! Im going to reduce the weight i increase by each week, otherwise im going to hit a sticking point soon. Instead of going up 5kg a week i will go up 2.5kg a week, unless i feel like i can manage more. On the other hand some weeks i may not manage a weight increase at all. My current goal on deadlifts is to have all working sets at 200kg or more.

Why not add a rep or two one week then 2.5kg the next. Should ensure steady progression

Yeah, sometimes thats what i've been doing. Some weeks the weight will stay the same but i get one or two more reps, it just varies. A lot of it comes down to how i feel on the day. Some days you feel good and strong other days you don't. As long as my diet and rest is in check i should make good progress.

Cheers! Not noticed any size increase worth speaking about. Although when i started getting back into it all before Christmas i had only done around 6 weeks of training when an experienced bodybuilding friend of mine commented that i was "looking beefy" I had 5 weeks of beer, junk food and no training over the Christmas period and this is my third week back training since then. Im slowly picking up the pace each week. First 2 weeks were just the basic 3 lifts (no direct arm work) but still a crap diet. This week will be starting my arms again and diet is clean, next week i will add the cardio to it all. I expect to add a bit of size but nothing too major.

This evening i worked my triceps. Close Grip Bench Press 12 reps with 60kg (warm up) 8 reps with 95kg 5 reps with 97.5kg 4 reps with 97.5kg 1 rep with 100kg Lying Tricep Extensions 8 reps with 48kg 6 reps with 48kg 4 reps with 48kg It's been 7 weeks since i last worked my triceps directly. My strength has dropped a little and on top of that my thumb hindered me a fair bit tonight. It was quite uncomfortable getting the bar into position, especially for the lying tricep extensions.

Cheers Tommy, although i was getting 5 reps with 100kg and 3 reps with 105kg the last time i worked them, although after 7 weeks of not directly training them i suppose it's not too bad. Oh well, it's onwards and upwards now!

ORIGINAL: noname Oh well, it's onwards and upwards now! Quite right. Good stuff, I'm sure you will more than surpass your previous best lifts shortly.

Cheers! The 4lbs difference over the last 7 weeks is nothing though, if it's tissue of any kind it will most likely be bodyfat. This weeks cleaner eating has reduced the 'bloated belly' i've had for the last week or two, so pleased with that. Then cardio next week will make it even better. Planning on using my CEE soon, probably the week after next week. Also going to start working shoulders on leg day soon.

Mate - since the nearest Krav Maga is about 80 miles away, I did a Yell.com search for martial art clubs locally - bit of tae kwon do and tang so do. Where's all the ju jitsu and leg-sweeping stuff hang out mate? I wanna do judo on a weekend and can't find any.

Not sure where they all are at the moment, it was a good few years back when i last went to a club. The community centre on Lincoln Road used to have various martial arts going on over different nights, the one in Millfield. I know my old Ju Jutsu instructor still has classes, i think it's over at Bushfields!? He's out fairly regular at the weekends so i often see him, i'll double check with him next time.
