Need Some Guidance Please

Hi, i have recently joined a gym and im a little overwhelmed by everything, i really dont know where to start, i have been doing a little cardio one day and then the next i have been doing a little weights. Before Christmas i lost 1/2 a stone (i know its not a lot) i currently weigh 77kg, i seem to have quite a lot of nautral muscle, i tend to compare myself to other women and noticed that i have bigger biceps and bigger calves than them but this is not due to working out, i have always been like this,. My main objective is to lose weight and tone up quite a lot, i'd like to have a bit of definition in my arms, tummy, legs and calves. Im struggling st the moment to know what to eat, i tend to eat a lot when im hungry then not really eat at other times. I tend to eat lunch, chicken or turkey salad or wrap, soup, pasta. Dinner can be anything and i dont usually eat breakfast. Any help would be greatly appreiciated.

u want to go for 5 small meals a day say 3 meals 2 shakes for the convenience, alternate meal, shake, meal, u want at least 1 gram of protein per pound of bw, and double that in carbs, all depending how sensitive you are to them. and have a resonable amount of heart healthy fats. it all depends what your goals are, how often u train/do cardio sam

Hi, I have only recently joined the gym but I have been going everyday for about an hour at a time, alternating between cardio one day and weights the other,I feel rather silly for asking but by shakes do u mean something like promax? If so how much? I have also started swimming too. Thanks :-)

Hi Kate Welcome to MT. Firstly I'd recommend eating breakfast, not least because if you fulfill your energy needs throughout the day you should make it less likely that you'll overeat later on in the day. Oats, whey powder, fruit and water can be blended into a shake. Three meals with 2 snacks is a good start as recommended above, the protein shakes can be one or two scoops in water, shaken and consumed with a piece of fruit. Three 45 minute cardio sessions per week, plus 3 full body workouts in the weights room (30-45 minutes) would also be a good plan for a beginner. Obviously if 45 minutes cardio is too much, start at say 10 or 20 minutes and build on that.
