Early morning cardio - before breakfast - steady your heart rate for around 40 mins. Then eat your Ready Brek or the like. Your diet will probably be the thing that needs most attention. Try cutting out fizzy drinks and alcohol and replace them with water. Drink a pint of cold water before you eat and you will notice your stomach will feel fuller quicker. Don't feel guilty about leaving a plate with food still on it. Eat about a fist full of food per sitting. Avoid high calorie, low density foods like biscuits and cakes etc - eat more low calorie, high density foods. Your body can't break down fibre, so in theory, you could eat a few carrots which are 60 calories, but it will take your body 100 calories to get it through you. On the subject of calories, there are 3500 calories per pound of fat on your body - an average grown male needs 2500 calories a day to maintain his weight. So if you cut 500 calories a day, after 7 days you should have lost a pound in fat. When you put all these things together, the weight should start dropping off you. There is no quick fix, you're going to have to change your life-style a bit to achieve the results you want. There are other drastic measures, but I wouldn't recommend them. Take progress pictures for motivation - my biggest regret is being too ashamed to take a starting point picture first.

Well, I am 5 ft 10 inches and at one point weighed 19 and a half stone, so I was in a much worse position than you to start with. I am now down to 14 and a half stone and can only echo the sentiment that there is no quick fix. This takes a whole lifestyle change, from what you eat and how much to the exercise you do. I do three days weights (split) and 45 mins cardio three times a week, with a day off. I eat around 2000 calories a day and on that I lose a steady 2 lbs a week or thereabouts. This is a long haul but totally worth it. I even had a GP the other day comment that I shouldn't lose too much more when I told her I hadn't finished losing weight yet. How good did that feel? Usually they are telling me to lose it :) Good luck and don't let the odd blip discourage you!

Please post up your current daily diet so we can see what you have been used to eating and drinking, then we'll take it from there
