Newbie here, needing to shift a load of weight!

Hi all, I'm new to the concept of weight training, not so new to the concept of forums (I moderate a snowboarding forum). I live up in sunny (not!) Scotland, and am 41 years of age. I have a desk job in IT, and over the years have gradually piled on the pounds. I'm not looking to be the next Mr Universe, or enter competitions, and whatever I do, it'll have to fit around work and my family (three kids, loads of evening activites).... Hoping I can find some guidance on what to do, and how to do it!!

Thankyou Will be spending a bit of time reading through various topics in the forum to see if I can find out what I'm after. Knees are shagged, so will be concentrating on abs and upper body stuff that doesn't include any weight bearing exercises (e.g. squats, lunges)...

Welcome bud check out the weight loss section on here post your stats and diet i am sure there are plenty of people willing to help and advise
The last three or four reps is what makes the muscle grow. This area of pain divides the champion from someone else who is not a champion.
