the only time mine has lost signal is when I run through a 400m long old train tunnel.

I've never ran up mountains in it though but my brother ran the Snowdon marathon in his with no problems

Do you test the GPS regulary to detemine if it's accurate by using old fashioned maps and stopwatches ?

Might get one if I knew it would be correct.....

No mate...never have but if I check a route on mapmyrun for the distnace, then run it in my Garmin, it's within a few metres.

The pace jumps a bit, so one second I can be running at 7.30/mile then I check agin and it's maybe 7.50/mile, then back to 7.25 etc but I haven't changed pace at all but it's a great guide

Whilst roughly correct, I find the Nike+ varies a far bit depending on my pace.  I do the same run to work twice a week, and It's been recorded from 6.5k to 8.5k and everything in between.

        .

FFS how can that be roughly correct,2k difference i could guess better than that

From experience I can tell you that there is a difference between mapping your run on mapmyrun and using the iphone gps mapmyrun programme.

Lasy week I went running and one of the lads put the Iphone in his back pocket. It said we ran 5.9K when we defo ran 6.4K. So I think the GPS on the Iphone is not as good as a dedicated one like Garmin or whatever.

            Totally agree.

Before I got the Garmin, I used the new balance total fit app on my iphone and it was way out, not to mention a ball ache to run with....even though I had an arm band to carry it, you can't just keep looking at it as the screen goes black and with the NB app, even the voice updates stopped occasionally and tbh, got bloody annoying when they didn't stop

I use the Nike+ with the pouch attached to my shoe laces on my asics. mine has been very accurate. I find it helps to get motivated as there is always a target to beat or a challenge to beat. The sensor and strap can be got from Amazon for under £30.
