Haha, hmm, hopefully I can enjoy the sensation of being pumped full of drugs then

Thankfully I'm not that shy in that I'll probably get a twisted kick from mooning everyone in my gown...

Solid return session and some good numbers there too, fella. Well done.

Good shots too. Shoulders and legs stand out to me. But a good alround balance.... but what's with the arty black and white

Cheers mate. I've had comments about the size of my thighs before, just wish I had the strength to accompany them tbh.
Likewise over the last 18months or so I've had comments regarding my shoulders, yet I totally fail to see how they stand out.

As for black and white:

1) The lighting in my flat is awkward and I've not yet managed to find out how to turn the flash back on (was an Xmas present, first time I've used it today, bar a fiddle on Xmas day)

2) I've not yet managed to find out how to get it off B&W mode.

3) Due to my pasty complexion, I look better in B&W

Urgghh... Went out yesterday/last night, met up with some old mates. Ending up getting in abit of a state, hadn't drank since new years either.

As a result feel ****ing **** today. Scoffed a pizza and a party bag of doritos at about 3am this morning.

But wanted to do some sort of workout today. Turned out to be pretty **** so I ended up doing:

  • Couple sets of benching @ 80kg
  • 60reps in total of chins/pullups assisted with my bands
  • 4 rounds of 8 reps of the following complex (shamelessly stolen from Dave284's journal): Row, Hang Clean, Front Squat, Push Press @ 30kg.

The complexes really had me gassing by the end! But were actually enjoyable too.

at least you did something to keep the body ticking over, 1 slip up isn't going to undo everything.

Good follow up session tho

I love graphs. I love statistics. I love numbers.

Was the first time I BB Row'd in a long time but felt great. Definately start doing these again, or alternate with DB's.

Same with SLDL, can easily whack on more weight next time (whenever that'll be!)... DV's 130kg SLDL's puts mine to shame.

I must commend you on your graph. They scratch and itch dont they? . Nothing like the feeling of control you get when plotting graphs and crunching calorific numbers.

Re:Time for a kick up the backside... - 19 January 2010 11:27
Thanks Val, unfortunately in 6weeks time I'm going to look like crap, flattering B&W picture or not!

I'm loving it Dave. Really enjoyable adding a whole new dimension to the lift. The way I've got them set up they take nothing off at the top, but then I'd gauge about 10-12kg at the bottom. I could wrap them up abit more to take some more weight but I'll see how it goes. But it's good just being able to stabilize 130-140kg at the moment with confidence.

Unfortunately not jedi without bands my bench is still stuck at 120-125kg, as it has been for months now. I'm hoping these bands will help me progress abit.

You have mini's right?

When I used to rev band with mini's id set the pins in the rack to around eye level and double the bands around that. Takes 10kg ish at lockout and 20kgish at the chest.
20kg to go.

I think they're 'Monster-Mini's' or #2's or Red Bands depending where you buy them. The second smallest bascially.

I'm abit limited as to where I can wrap them on my homemade rack, but I'll keep experimenting. I'm hoping that focusing on rev band bench + CG bench will bring up my numbers abit.

going from 150 x 1 to 160 x 3 on the rev band set up I was using at the time (125 bottom, 135 top and 135 and 145 respectively) added exactly 10kg to my bench.

Really enjoyable session, took 68mins. Happy with 100kg overhead, I wasn't too confident as first and thought I'd bitten off more than I could chew... but it went 60x10 was a grinder, triceps were shot.

I was actually meant to be aiming for hypertrophy based training pre and post surgery, but doesn't seem to be going so well

Well I never got to carry out my last session yesterday. I had a planning law exam on thursday which stressed the hell out of me, then got home and just felt in a foul mood. Wanted to take my flatmates head off and he hadn't even done anything!
Helped the missus out at work again yesterday, and go into hospital tomorrow night in theory. Starting to feel abit anxious if truth be told.
I'll probably log on again tomorrow but if not, I'll be back as a new man in a few days!

Cheerio.

Re:Time for a kick up the backside... - 27 January 2010 13:54
Thankyou my internet buddies! Appreciate the kind comments.

Having to type this out with one hand so forgive any grammatical errors please.

Got home from Wythenshawe last night, after what had to be the ****tiest hospital experience of my life.  They'd put back my op by 24hrs without telling me, then gave me 1hours notice on monday night to come in.
I'd made about 20 phonecalls the day before to find out what the **** was going on, no-one could tell me, everyone promised to ring me back etc but never did. Absolute farce which didn't fill me full of confidence either.
The ward i was on was dirty, ****/blood/piss stains could be seen in most places without looking too hard.  The nurses were borderline rude/neglectful to some of the guys on my ward.

Got no sleep the night i went in, still bricking it. 7am i finally put my gown on ready for my op at 9am. After a visit from the surgeons and the anaesthetist (who were great actually, really put me at ease). However they decided then a skin graft wouldn't be the best option (after 5months of being told otherwise) and they were going to try and cut out the tight 'band' in my arm, scrape out some of the isolated tissue (which was causing the uneven-ness of the scar) and stretch the skin together and stitch it back in place. **** knows how they did it or what it'll look like, but is pretty painful atm. Kind of glad i didnt have a graft as another wound/scar to contend with now would be vv uncomfortable.

The anesthic was a breeze thankfully, woke up with abit of a headache and disorientated but nothing too drastic. After being taken back to my ward I was left alone for the best part of 3 hours. I needed a piss badly and had to use the emergency call button to get the attention of a nurse (who then took nearly 10mins to arrive). So i pissed in a bottle and the nurse buggered off never to be seen again. So i'm left with about 1litre of steaming urine next to my bed for the rest of my stay. She'd also closed the curtains which i couldnt open as my right arm was totally immobile and the left was attached to a fixed IV drip.
An hour later enough was enough and called for another nurse to come help, as my IV bag was empty and i was bleeding back out into the tube. The nurse came, opened the curtain and said she'd get someone else to sort out the IV and take the needle out. I also wanted my phone backj to call my mum/gf who were waiting on a call as to when to pick me up. She couldn't do that for me either!

Later on the anaesthetist came back to check up on me (such a gent) and immediately saw i was bleeding into my catheter and said he'd let a nurse know.

No nurse came.

My (full to the brim) piss bottle is still there.

So i use the 'emergency call' button to get some help. Another nurse arrives (I never saw the same one more than once!) and said she'd do my post op tests first. Im struggling to move either arm now, the bed controls have been knocked onto the floor, bladders full and im stressing about phoning home and getting my mobile back off them. She also said its unlikely ill be going home that night (I live an hour from the hospital and wouldnt be able to arrange transport for the next day). So i was completely stressing out, felt horrible. The whole time your there you just feel as if your causing them hassle and getting in the way.

Fortunately my mum and gf come as visiting time begins anyway which made me feel better. Also the catheter being removed helped immensely. I still however had the worlds worst dead arm where they had used local anesthetic too.

When feeling came back and had my temp/bp taken the nurse said I would have to stay in for another night, to see a clinical therapist in the morning. **** that. There was no way in hell id stay another night in there. Dirty, disorganised and I probably wouldnt see anyone either. It just takes so long to get the smallest of things done. After i threw a small hissy fit and said id be discharging myself, she went off and spoke to a few doctors who said it'd be fine to go home (this in itself took 30mins+). Then to organise my painkillers and papers took nearly an hour too.

Absolutely ctrap experience. Due to go back to have dressings changed on the 8th (which seems an awfully long time to keep my current dressing on?).
