Droid is way out in front of iOS, but you have to consider how many devices use Droid and on phones you can get for free on the cheapest tariffs, its not really surprising. If WP is wanting to do anything it could eat into the Blackberry market due to its full office integration, and mid android market.

Yeah your not wrong m8 its so many different manufacturers use android so it will end up winning in the end, you got to feel sorry for apple though as its just a blatant copy of all there ideas, not fair really.

LOL, The way I look at nothing has really changed over the last few years iOS -is always pretty much perfect minus a couple of unimportant features that the Android fanboys will blow way out of proportion. Android - is always "just about" to be better , just this one more software update and everything with be perfect !, whatever the flagship of the time is will be hailed as the ultimate smartphone (remember the Hero , Nexus One, Desire ,Desire HD , SGS, SGS2,) - .....and then when the next one comes along the fanboys will admit its shortcomings...... but still rave about the next one. Windows Phone - A bit like the middle aged guy trying to be trendy in a club. at first you respect his efforts to stay young , and then you have to accept he's just making a twat of himself. Everyone in this thread knows damn well that when the next lot of smartphones come up , people won't be comparing them to the Nokia Lumia or the Galaxy Nexus ... they'll be comparing them to whatever iPhone is around. speaks for itself !

Whilst I agree on some of those points, im sorry but starting a thread about how Nokia has failed because of a price drop on a site that marked it the wrong price ( the page has been pulled completely, everyone was given a refund).. just screams that your FAR too biased. Sales number haven't even been announced, but at one point they couldn't keep up with supply, it was the number one selling phone beating the iPhones in a couple of EU countries on their carriers. etc.

Cu3ed be careful. He's probably bookmarked this thread already! Incidentally I flashed my Desire the other week and installed Cyanogenmod 7. What a difference! Much better battery life and navigating through things much quicker. Some really good features on there. Really glad I did it. Has saved me a load of money as I don't now feel the need to go out any buy a new phone just to get a new user interface as I was bored with HTC Sense. When I do start to get a bit bored I can switch to another theme. That's what I like about Android - the abilty to customise. Suits me as I'm reasonably tech savvy and I enjoy tinkering. I would get bored with the lack of that on Windows and iOS. Just a shame that you don't get the best experience straight out of the box!

If i didnt have to use Itunes , convert videos and could drag and drop mp3's like onto a removeable drive I would have an iphone back straight away , my ssg2 is almost perfect though the only thing i would want improved is th battery life. Although i think in future the android market could end up with dodgey apps that brick some phones due to viruses , already seen a few, apple appstore appears much tighter , imagine the battery life and the slickness with an anti virus programme running in the background, wouldnt be good. still very happy with my ssg2 though and have no intention of changing until the next generation of phone .

Doc you could do for samsungs 2000ma battery, it comes with a new back that makes the phone as thick as the bottom part.

On a side note, as I am someone who does fancy the Nokia Lumia, sorry Dr Z - are virus's becoming a problem on Mobiles now? As avast is advertising mobile phone anti virus software.

Cyanogenmod (or any AOSP ROM to an extent ) really makes one hell of a difference , and really does make you wonder how on earth the manufacturers make such a balls up of firmware , I generally find the performance roughly 2 generations better , i.e. a Desire running CM7 would probably give equal or better performance than a Desire S running stock - even directly from HTC !

Just my view ! ...Lets look back in a year or to and see eh ?

I've used custom roms before and heard about CM etc, but what difference does it make on an SGS2? Mine is so fast for everything I use it for I can't think how it could be better. the only time it's slo is when opening the gallery after a restart, as it has to open all the images/videos which takes time from the relatively slow NAND.

side note: DrZ just ordered the Optimus 3d on 24mth/£15 do you reckon I did well? was after the iphone4s but this one came 1/2 price ,can change to 18mth/£20 I think. tbh I do not need a phone at all so it's mostly because of the features I#ll be using on it,what is the browsing experience on these? never had a smartphone like these oh and I realise I sound like I don#t know what I#m doing .
