Nuts - 06 November 2009 20:04 ( #1 )
Just wondering what type of nuts bodybuilders eat, were to buy them from and how much can one eat at any one time without risking adding bodyfat?

is a packet of KP dry roasted sufficent to snack on during the day?

any nuts are good, just avoid salted or flavoured nuts

to name a few, panuts, cashews, brazil nuts, almonds, pecan, pistachio

can be purchased from supermarkets, health food shops or online

eating too many calories per day will make you fat, not eating nuts

factor the kcals from the nuts into your overal diet and requirements

My top choices would be almonds, walnuts and Brazils ... although there's many others to choose from...cashews, hazelnuts, peanuts, macadamias etc.

As above, factor them into your daily diet to avoid overdoing it on your calorie count.

I've been buying nuts and seeds in Aldi lately, they're quite reasonably priced.

Nuts aren't something that you should actively add to your diet to help your muscle growth but if you want to eat them make sure that you factor the calories into your daily allowance. Remember though that nuts are very calorie dense and you can add a lot of calories for a small amount of nuts.

Nuts are great - each type has its own unique blend of health fats too.

If you eat a healthy diet then there is nothing wrong with salted or flavoured or even coated varieties - if you eat the UK's usual crap - then there is!

As Stu says - dont add them, but they do constitute a good snack - although loaded with calories so not 1st choice for the person with body fat to lose :)
