Xabi alonso is not world class,ok hes a good player but to say his world class is laughable. Mascherano is a good solid holding midfield player, but again not considered world class,as he offers nothing else.

On a brighter note for Liverpool fans i think Torres and Gerrard are world class players.

With Hargreaves and Carrick fit i would think not,Hargreaves and Carrick offer more than just a holding midfielder.

Overrated in what way? There both good balanced central midfield players, can breakdown attacks and help create attacks. Was also just part of a double winning team, and havent played at all this season. To win a double you have to have good holding midfield players. And there the only 2 that played this position for united last year and with great effect it appears after winning the double.

makaveli- yeah u do have t be good t play in the european chamnps team, but thats not t say there arent others out there better. mascherano would def get in utds tea,.. bar essien, i think masch is one of the best in the world at the job they are supposed to do! he isnt selected for his forward play, he is seleceted for the job he does and neither carrick or hargreaves do it as well as he does. integra- i dont think he was behind fabregas was he?? ur right tho he dint start. my mistake. he was ahead of xavi tho.. iniesta and senna started most games im sure!

Phil Neville was a 1st team regular around the 99 era, he wasnt exactly Mr Football. Neither of the above are as good as Mascherano. The fact that Gareth Barry is ahead of both in the england setup and LOLerpool rejected the chance to sign Barry - suggests that Mascherano is better.

mrmmonster integra- i dont think he was behind fabregas was he?? Perhaps not, but as the tournament progressed the performances from Fabregas may have pushed him up the pecking order. He started the final and was replaced by Alonso. Xavi was voted best player of Euro 2008.

For those slagging Masc off saying he has nothing going forward, that is true as that is the job he is given. Liverpool have enough attacking midfielders as it is. The job he does, he is one of the best in the world at IMO.

So because Barry has had a few good england performances that suggest mascherrano is better than hargreaves and carrick? Its like us now saying crouch and defoe are better than owen, as the england pecking order suggests. Hargreaves when fully fit is in the team before Barry everytime. Also Liverpool wanted Barry but couldnt afford the extra money that villa were suggesting.

I love the way people base whether or not a player is world class on their attacking attributes. Or how people allways say this midfielder has scored such and such so he is the best player out of the two, without taking into account what their duties to the team are or what else they bring to the table.

Absolutely not, a striker that doesnt score many goals is hardly a good striker. Rooney is living of the name he built up as a kid. Hes nothing like that player anymore. Michael Owen is by far the best current English striker. Why he isnt getting picked is a different story that i asume there is an issue behind....

You may suggest absolutely not,but the majority of the english public and the england manager agree that wayne is our best talent, and i think its clearly obvious he is. Owen is not getting picked for the simple reason hes not playing well and is looking to be past it at the moment. But like i said in a thread a while back if Owen wants his England place back he has to get out of Newcastle.

The majority of the English public agree that Owen should be in the starting line up as he has THE best chance of scoring.... As for best talent, Walcott may now be taking over as Rooney simply hasnt delivered at international level. Walcott bagged a hat trick didnt he?

This debate is drifting but i wont disagree that Walcotts a fine talent and has the potential to be an England great, personally i would still have Owen in the team as he has a great england goal scoring record. But it seems players are being picked for how they are performing at club level and i think we would all agree Owen is not doing it for Newcastle, but who is right now?

Theres no sh1te in uniteds team, because if there was then they wouldnt be playing for united, rooney is a class player playing for a class team. Dont know why you find that so hard to accept.

Iirc (and i could be wrong) Owen has scored 5 goals this season... Hes playing in a poor side so i wouldnt expect miracle anyway. Owen will score goals and should be in the England team imo. I dont know what but there is defo an underlying reason why Capello drops him. There was all that rumour about Owen only being into money now to fund his horse business. Plus the fact hes a cnut, and a horrible little tw@t to boot.

Red Man I wont list names as its seems obvious you wont agree, every team has sh1te in it. Just because you play for Utd doesnt make you a class player. No one is sh1te mate as they wouldnt be at such big clubs. But to list some of uniteds not so good players i would say Fletcher Neville etc... But they are hardly sh1te.
If you love something let it go,if it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't it never was.
