And remember this is all from a team that were almost relegated.

Then followed 1992-1993 the EPL title followed by 10 more EPL titles, 4 doubles, a treble including 2 european cups.

He took a team facing relegation to English football domination.

So do you see Benitez doing the same?

So, you are comparing Fergie who had a much slower start.  By your rules Fergie is a bad manager.  He took 3 years to win a cup, another 2 to win the League Cup (which by your own words is a mickey mouse cup).  So thats 5 years just to win 2 cups, one meaning nothing.

Reality is given time he has the capability to win us a lot if the right funds are in place and he's left to buy players and not have sh1te brought in (ala Keane).

If he's given a chance he could do well.

No he won the Fa cup after 2 and a half years at the helm,and this was a team in relegation form who he also took to 2nd in just over a year at the club.
 
Difference is Benitez has been far too busy in the transfer market and resulted in Liverpool going backwards (hence this season) and United under Fergie was always progressing by winning trophies although they went backwards the following few years after 88 in league positionings.
 
Benitez took over a club in much better stability than what Fergie did United.
 
Fergie brought well Benitez hasn't.
 
Why were even having this debate I do not know as Fergie is simply in another league in management to Benitez who appears to be a decent manager but keeps getting big decisions wrong time and time again,and this is why Liverpool will go out of the UCL and not progress in the EPL.
 
And Rafa taking over a team that were already in the UCL says all the difference.

Yes 3 and a half years.
 
Like I said Rafa has spent far to big to have not won nothing.
 
And he doesn't appear to be progressing.
 
I would say keep him in the job......but I can never see Liverpool winning the league while he is in charge.
 
Fergie was winning trophies...Rafa has won nothing since 2005,and it looks like it may be that way again this season unless he can put together a winning run in the FA cup.
 
And do remember Fergie was on the brink of being sacked.
 
But the comparison in what both Fergie and Benitez took over at there respective clubs is of massive difference.

I have to say I agree with maks line of argument

in the same way it cannot be said that Mourinho was fantastic at chelsea as he took them from 2nd to 1st. Still a good achievement but not amazing

83m with no major trophies is a waste. 
  
And the fact that through all the wealing and dealing Benitez has done you only have a couple of decent signings to show for it, again it's poor.

We have improved under Benitez. We have spend just 16 million net per season. Its a working progress, the season before rafa took over were were 30 points off the pace and the season he took over we were 37 points off the pace! Last season we were 4 points off and the season before 11.

Im not trying to say we are better than united or even as good as them, or chelsea for that matter. We often get the better off them in one off games which is great but in the end off the day we need to win trophies. I believe rafa can do this.

If I was a LOLerpool fan, id be calling for his head, and after a manager like Martin O'Neill or David Moyed who, when given funds, make sure they buy the best that they can get for their team.
