Long term thing are not looking too good for Liverpool, Gerrard and Carragher are getting on, if Rafa goes then how long will the world class players he brought to the club hang around for e.g Reina, Torres and Mascherano?? If they dont qualify for the next round of the champions league, what will that mean for the transfer kitty. League wise they could struggle for 4th with the emergence of City and then the usual teams who have improved such as Villa and Spurs. Also whats the story with a new ground, are they building a new one?

The only thing Liverpool have going in their favour at the moment is the fact that Man City can't win games either.

Some analysts believe that if they fail to qualify for the Champions League and finish lower than fourth they are financially totally fcuked (assuming the current owners remain and no new investment is forthcoming). Not quite another Leeds United but not a million miles away

Just seen Ngog's dive on Sky; there is no defending that, which in fairness none of the Liverpool fans have attempted to. Horrible way to lose 2 points late in the game for anyone. Ironically Ngog took his goal very well but must be embarrassed tonight when he sees the replay.

If the FA want to make an impact they need to ban this twat and change the result to a 2-1 defeat. Maybe then idiots would stop doing it.

Benitez will be there all season (unless he resigns (which he wont do). The funds are not there to sack him, never mind his entire coaching team and bring in a new set. Champions league is over. Europa cup will be shortfalled aswell. We will not finish in the top 4. The club is fukced without massive investment and even then it will be a long haul. As every Liverpool fan who didnt have his head up his ar5e knew last season, the manager should have gone in the summer. There really is no argument for this now!!!! I wont even talk about his signings this time either...

Tbh though you pool fans must be happy with Rafa for atleast winning the European cup and taking them to the final again. That's a feat hardly any clubs manage. So if he does leave will you have any respect for him still or are just gonna say he's rubbish for the past few seasons lol.

Although we finished second last year I still dont think he has progressed the team enough with the money and players he has had available.

baird- im full of respect for benitez, but.. like i said at the start of this season, imo he had to win somethin, if not he would be sacked! and that something imo had to be the league! i dont get it tho.. we had a v strong side out last night, yeh we got some injuries during the game and torres and gerrard dint start, but still we had a strong side out, capable of beatin most teams in the league really, never mind birmingham! obviosly confidence is low, but he is obvioulsy not gettin the best out of them either.. plus it seems somethin is goin wrong in training or maybe theyre just playin too much football as everyone is fallin down injured, and we cant afford to lose players like benayoun, riera, gerrard, torres etc..its not lookin good. financially i really dont think it is half as bad as what is bein made out in the press.. the papers say one thing, the owners say another! gilett said we were finanacially very good the other week, but were however raising new equity in the club t bring in new investment..now new investors arent goin t come in and pay off debt and our owners will kknow this of course, so this would suggest to me that the club isnt in that much bother.. according to christian purslow we're on the verge of new investment which again suggests that they have looked at out financial position and have deemed it to be alright, or else they simply would not invest! anyway.. last night was shockin, we played well, but lacked anythin 'real' in the box.. we have no one in the box who can score from set pieces, and kuyt HAS TO GO!!!! his touch and passing ability is pretty shockin.. i'd play babel ahead of him i really would.. at least he has a go at players.. kuyt just runs around in circles t get his 'metres covered' stats up!!! anyway, this thread has been taken up by so much liverpool talk, and we keep covering the same ground.. shall we move on?? plus.. its upsetting me :-( haha..

So if he does leave will you have any respect for him still or are just gonna say he's rubbish for the past few seasons lol. He'll always have the respect of the fans for what he did. Thats the way the club functions. Apart from anyone who has played for manure afterwards, its rare that an ex LFC employee is ever booed. Its obvious though that he is out of his league in the chase for the premiership and that needs to be addressed. A lot of fans cant see past the European club glory that he gave us. Unfortunately, this doesnt make up for poor league decisions by Rafa. Its been pointed out to me in work just now that to sack him and make a complete overhaul of the backroom staff could cost upto £20m... He's going no where...

I think given the funds he has been given and mickey mouse owners he has over-achieved. We are punching above our weight. While i am pro-rafa i would welcome a manager who could take us to the next level. Unfortunately there are not many available and even fewer that would want the job.
