Integra john_cappa When rafa took over we had finished 30 points off the top the year before. Have people forgotten how bad we were??? lol Less than a 3rd of the season gone and you are 11 points off. Pretty much the same as when he took over. Only back in the day you were less of a two man band. Last seasons excuses (Torres/Gerrard fit we would have won the league, etc etc etzzzz) and what happens? LOLerpool lose 3 of the first 8 matches with both Torres and Gerrard in the team. We have gone backwards this season no doubt. going to be a long season im afraid

galenkia john_cappa Net spend/profit is the most important thing Net spending means nothing.Trophy's mean everything. How did Blackburn win the prem?.By Jack Walker spending more money than everyone else. These days you need to invest heavily to succeed. And you need to spend that money wisely.Which Rafa has not in most cases. and when your given 20 million per season + what ever you can make by sales....is that you definition off been given money to invest heavily? lol

No evidence of how much Rafa has been given. The simple facts are that the majority of his signings have failed to perform.

CalderaVII Oh yes, how that plan went wrong, failed to sign Ronaldo the best player in the world but ended up with Lucas and Babel. LOLerpool!!! Also, lucas has been one of Liverpool's best players this year, he cost £5mil, how much did Anderson cost?? £18mil and he has hardly been worth that, I do rate him to a degree, but he has by far, not lived up to the hype. You sir, are a prat, this thread was so much better without you. I like the banter in here, but don't like it when people clearly don't have a clue what they are on about and go on the attack of players or teams.

Apart from Man City being way ahead on pre-season spending,Liverpool along with Villa,Spurs and Sunderland all spent over £25m pre-season. So £20m+ was among the highest spending pre-season.

Mate don't be silly, did you watch the match last night? or most of our matches this season? Come on, I know you don't rate him, but this season he has really stepped his game up. Lucas, Yossi, Reina, Torres and Johnson have been our best players this season. If you don't agree, tell me who has?

Id agree with the others mate but no chance id say Lucas. He played well in the last couple of games, ill agree. Will this last? No chance! Quite simply, you cant polish a turd.

Papa Lazarou TBH its clear to everyone that Pool need better forwards. Why arent we doing anything about this? I never shut up about us needing a striker in the summer it was a must. Now we are paying the price. We dont have any other strikers apart from torres that are good up front and consistent enough, fact.

I agree, you can't polish a turd lol, but Lucas was never a turd. Seriously, just because Lucas got off to a slow start, he is always overlooked, he has ran the show in central midfield this year without Gerrard being there.

Mr.M baird- im full of respect for benitez, but.. like i said at the start of this season, imo he had to win somethin, if not he would be sacked! and that something imo had to be the league! i dont get it tho.. we had a v strong side out last night, yeh we got some injuries during the game and torres and gerrard dint start, but still we had a strong side out, capable of beatin most teams in the league really, never mind birmingham! obviosly confidence is low, but he is obvioulsy not gettin the best out of them either.. plus it seems somethin is goin wrong in training or maybe theyre just playin too much football as everyone is fallin down injured, and we cant afford to lose players like benayoun, riera, gerrard, torres etc..its not lookin good. financially i really dont think it is half as bad as what is bein made out in the press.. the papers say one thing, the owners say another! gilett said we were finanacially very good the other week, but were however raising new equity in the club t bring in new investment..now new investors arent goin t come in and pay off debt and our owners will kknow this of course, so this would suggest to me that the club isnt in that much bother.. according to christian purslow we're on the verge of new investment which again suggests that they have looked at out financial position and have deemed it to be alright, or else they simply would not invest! anyway.. last night was shockin, we played well, but lacked anythin 'real' in the box.. we have no one in the box who can score from set pieces, and kuyt HAS TO GO!!!! his touch and passing ability is pretty shockin.. i'd play babel ahead of him i really would.. at least he has a go at players.. kuyt just runs around in circles t get his 'metres covered' stats up!!! anyway, this thread has been taken up by so much liverpool talk, and we keep covering the same ground.. shall we move on?? plus.. its upsetting me :-( haha.. Babel is inconsistent full stop, kuyt is pretty consistent and i wouldnt say his passing and touch is 'shockin' time to cool down he puts in the work and does well in most games and as i said is pretty consistent unlike babel. Although it rings true that unless babel plays regularly he wont be much use, i said this in the summer and you disagreed. Yeah he scored a belter against lyon and what else? He has had a few chances as hes started a few games and under-performed too often. I like him and want him to be played all the time as i feel he has potential to be a very good player for us, but his time at lpool is just dragging on and he is bound to leave. Anyway one question - who is more consistent kuyt or babel?

Lucas aint bad and has been playing well for us and will progress so im happy enough. Babel has got potential imo but is too inconsistent, when he starts he doesnt make the most of his opportunity to impress and will soon leave.

Of course we dont know for sure but i would say if you asked the neutrals they would agree it was a strong possibility.
