Pretty good session today, from the 5 events we did I can definatly see the SSM Final being a very hard day! 20/4/08 Log Press- worked upto 75k with thin 8" log, IFSA spec: 90/3, 105/1, 120/1 Think a goal of 4 reps on the day is achievable Medley- washing machine, 120k farmer, 100k sandbag, 85k keg, 2 40k kettlebells All carried 12m and loaded to 42" wall Tyre Flip- set with 5 guys, 2 runs of 5 flips each Think the weight was 350k Farmers Hold- 70k pick, 120k/ 10s, 140/22s Stones- 100,110,120,130,140,150 Failed the 150 on both sets, not enough tacky and tired too

Alright session today, wasnt really all that motivated cause I was doing an assignment for tomorrow from 3.30 to 5pm in a hot room. Was agitated afterwards from the heat and didnt feel like doing anything. Went to the gym and pressing was ok, even after pressing yesterday and then since other guys were doing squats I jumped in with them. 21/4/08 Behind the neck jerks- 70/3, 100/1 Front jerks- 100/3 Cleans- 70/5, 100/2 Seated DB Press- 30/8, 35/6 Squats- 60/5, 100/5, 150/3, 200/2, 220/3, 230/1 Only belt from the 200 set.

Just back from one of the if not the best gym day of my life. Went to Dumbarton in the afternoon to do some pressing with Andy since his quad was still sore from SSM, therefore no squats this week. Then on the way back on the train decided that I need to squat so went into the uni gym and had a killer session! 9/5/08 DAWC 8" Log Press- 70/5/5, 100/3, 110/3, 120/1 70k sets were strict, all one clean Seated Smith Press- 50/6, 70/4, 90/1 assisted, 80/2 Seated DB Press- 32/8/8 Pushdowns- multiple heavy sets of 8reps, last set medium weight for 18reps Tricep Circuit- 20 dips, 20 70k straight bar PDs, 20 50k rope PDs; 20 dips, 20 50k straight bar PDs, 20 40k rope PDs UNI GYM Squats- 60/5, 100/5, 140/5, 180/3, 220/1/1, 240/1/1, 270/1, 280/1 PB Powerpants, belt and wraps on from 220, Z-suit on from second 240k set. Belt kept slipping with only powerpants so I was pretty much doing them beltless

Not much of a session yesterday as we were just getting a feel of the equipment for the team comp. Did some tyre and got a couple of then Karlsen style [one movement] and then did stones without tacky [only got tacky from handling the stones], went upto 150k loaded and then got the 180k stone around 3 or 4" off the floor.

Yeah its going really well! Pretty good session tonight, just trying to increase my pressing endurance whilst the weight goes up. 12/5/08 Pressing- Plan was to have a bar on the outside of the power rack for jerks and then on the lowest catches inside another bar for cleans. I did a clean then went and did a jerk, clean, jerk, clean, jerk. The clean weight was always 90k and then the jerk set weights were as follows: 105, 120, 135 for the first three sets and then for the last set 105, 120, 130 During the first set I got the 105 and 120, then the second and third only the 105 and then the last set the 105 and 120 again. Just missed the 135/130 on the first and last sets. Bench- 80/8, 100/6, 110/6, 80/16 Front Squats- 60/5, 100/5, 140/5, 160/1

Ok session tonight, was hoping to hit a 300k in my Inzer Max DL, but as per usual my lockout let me down before I got to that mark. Decided instead of using the coan/ phillipi routine again over summer Im going to just work my lockout really hard for the three months Im at home over summer and then since Ive got around 5 months after getting back to Uni until my first comp I'll use the deadlift routine there, to either take me to 300 or 310k depending on how it goes over summer. Video to follow: 21/5/08 Suited Deadlifts- 70/5, 120/5, 170/3 (straps down); straps up from here: 220/2, 260/1, 290/f/f Spped off the floor was pretty good and was closer to lockout on the 2nd attempt. Im still hopeful for 300k raw by the end of 2008. Rack Pulls, below knee- 160/3, 240/5, 270/3 Straps used for 240 and 270k sets as hand was ripped after the 290k sets. Deadlift Medley- Practicing for the team comp; Run 10m upto Axel, get good lift and then place down, run 10m away and 10m back to Barbell, get good lift and then place down. 210k axel, 230k barbell; 230k axel, 250k barbell Finished off with some tricep work.

These ones are around about knee level, probs the highest pick up Ive used on a set. Normally they're around mid shin mate.

The pickup on my farmers is really low. I'm considering doing deadlifts with them, be a bit like using a trap bar. What do you think?

Sounds good mate, if you train with low farmers then when it comes to comps [if you decide to compete] then you'll be able to do any famers that come up. If I was you, Id train normal barbell deads on whatever day you train it, then when it comes to events do your famers walks upto whatever you want and then add some weight to it and do pick ups to work on the pull from the floor.

Had a pretty good day, some things I wanted to do better at, but its done and dusted now so heres the write up! Log Press Medley- Stevie went in and done the 90 and 100k logs, I got the 115k and then attempted the 130k twice, but missed it both times. knew it was unlikely Id get the 130k, but hopefully after a summer of intense pressing training then I might get it after summer. Deadlift Medley- Stevie started at the 110k farmers, pulled them easily and then tagged me. I ran out and got the 230k axel [grip almost went though as I didnt take anytime to set it up] then pulled the 250k barbell easily. Stevie did the van and I came back in to do the 200k per hand farmers, apparently this last lift looked very easy. Medley- Did the 310k yoke easily enough, Stevie did the 120k keg fine then I went in and did the 370k tyre ok, was starting to get puffed out after four flips, but kept going and finished the six flips. Running back the 15m to tag Stevie was the hardest part as I thought I was going to fall over since my legs were like jelly. Farmers- By this time the rain had started and the handles were getting quite wet. 110k for 30m was pretty fast by Stevie, then I came in and did the 150k's. Got to the cone at 15m and madde the turn, dropped them and tagged Stevie, he took them around 5m and then I finished them off. Stones- Plan was for Stevie to do the 90, 100, 110 and 130k stones then for me to come in and do the 150 and 170s. Stevie got all his and then I went in, made an attempt on the stone, but the rain had made it very slippery, this wasn't helped by the masking tape covering the stone. Neither of us managed to get the stone, so had to settle for four of six. Overall a good day, but just made me realise at the difference in standard at open level. Need to knock my pan in all summer and try to improve as much as I can and then do the same once Im back at Uni to prepare for comps next spring.

Damn good session tonight, havent squatted in 3 weeks so it was ok. Messed up my back squat and couldnt do Karlsen Squats, but saved it with other stuff. My wee bro hit a PB with a 140k back squat. 20/6/08 Back Squat- 60/5, 100/5, 140/5, 180/3, 220/1, 240/f ****ed the 220k cause my bro put me off with his spotting, then legs were feeling really tight and head was away for the 240k. Leg Press- 130/10, 220/10, 260/8, 340/6, {300/4, 260/5, 220/6, 170/8, 130/15 DROP SET} Front Squat- 60/5, 100/3, 140/1, 165/1, 175/f 165k was a new gym record and then nothing left for the 175k. Leg Ext- 60/10, 100/10/10/10

Awesome events session today, tested the tyre drag thats going to be at the UKSC Scottish. Used 300k and felt ok, reckon that a 400k tyre is just as possible only a little slower! :D 22/6/08 Tyre Drag- 300k/10m/10m Drag was set up as shown below with a short chain attarched to the yellow tow rope and then a straight bar attached to the chain. Axle Press- 50/5, 70/5, 90/2, 100/2, 110/1, 115/1, 120/1, 125/f Used a different technique, so now I use a thumbless double overhand grip to clean the axle [right up and continental] and to press.
