From the BNBF show report .. 1st was Nicola Joyce who was in the best condition seen in women’s physique for a long time. Nicola had very detailed shoulders and back with full pecs. Nicola was a clear winner also taking best presentation for her good posing, excellent tan and well put together routine. Constructive criticism would be that Nicola needs more back width and to work on her legs which were in good condition but lacked muscle size. Awesome

I'm working that back! Believe me! And I'll try to add some size to my legs...not sure how much can be done in 10 weeks (?) but I'll do my bestest! :D

Have you included any swimming in your prep at all? I like to pop swimming into my training schedule once or twice a week as an alternative, low impact form of cardio. I have a tendency for lower limb injuries, plus I have some kind of daft idea it'll help tighten my upper body which is an area where I struggle (my legs are already very lean). I have an idea that you won't be swimming right now, but did wonder!
The scales LIE

Hey Gingernut, no I haven't - I confess that I don't swim at all when I don't "have to". I've been swimming since I was tiny and though I do love it and probably always will, it has some negative emotions for me too. Plus I find it a real ballache - getting there, changing, changing afterwards in the hot changing room, wet hair.... ugh. From the feedback I need to work on legs anyway, so will probably choose hill reps, sprints and biking as my "outside the gym" cardio of choice. MrE - thanks!

I don't think they mean leg condition... It's more size. Hence, you don't need to worry about your CV choice, you're a lucky one who doesn't need to worry about swimming, uphill walking, not running, or any of that jazz! Just get squatting and leg pressing and hamstring curling heavy and low reps! Lucky for you you have an uber amazing trainer so just listen to her and I'm sure you'll improve!

I hope to Flick! All I meant was that the CV I do do, I choose to for its effect on lower body rather than upper body. Or maybe it's just my excuse to avoid swimming ;) With that I am off to the gym and it is indeed leg day! Squatting and leg pressing and ham string curling here we go! :D

I don't know who your coach is and don't mean to go against anything that he/she may have suggested but if leg size is needed then I'd keep to something slower and hard CV wise on the legs rather than sprinting or cycling. Uphill powerwalking, stepper, summit trainer I think would be better for you. Don't miss out on leg extensions for quad mass, they are often underestimated. Hack squats are another good one you could do. For hammies, as well as leg curls, stiff legged deadlifts are excellent for development.

Oh fabbie, glad to know I'm giving the right advice Hack squats are great....try doing partials on them. This means not going fully arse to grass and not going to full extension at the top. It's almost a 45 degree to 45 degree.....keeps the tension on the quads, uses the glutes less and really hurts!!
