On cloud nine: BNBF Welsh 2011

Hi all!
 
Well, gosh, what a day! I entered BNBF Welsh as my first comp and came home with winner of Physique class and Best Presentation ladies trophy! I am on cloud nine, can't believe it and it totally hasn't sunk in. I don't really know what it all means! I'm just sitting here staring at the two (!) trophies which are both beautiful and just thinking about all the prep and training and dieting and food prep and veggie shopping and diary management and social life squashing and and and..... And EVERYTHING, everything was completely and absolutely worth it for this feeling and that moment yesterday.

I know I'm not active here but this forum has been immensely useful to me both as a practical resource, as support and so I knew people yesterday (although I had my own fab support crew). For instance I met the adorable and totally beautiful l'il Welshy (we shared a dressing room of course) and she was nothing but fun and kind and generous and bubbly.
 
To those of you there yesterday I hope you enjoyed the show and had a fab day! I wish I'd met more of you but I wouldn't have known who I was looking for ha ha! Next time! (At least you'll know what I look like now even if I don't know you)
 
If anyone from the BNBF is reading this I would like to say a heartfelt thank you for making a complete newcomer and beginner feel so welcome. Absolutely everyone was lovely, patient (I must have asked the same, most basic questions, about 10 times!), well-humoured and just NICE! What a lovely sport.

Congratulations - been following the girls on the BNBF for a long time now although Kitty will vouch for me that I missed the finals last year as I got the dates mixed up and my ticket was still stuck to the fridge door a week after the event.  Wll done, I was wondering whether to head to the finals this year so I guess I have an excuse, not that I ever need one - I may see you there.

Thank you! I should move my bum I guess, want to take my trophies to my local gym to show the guys there, they have been such a support and so encouraging. Just got to have this JACKET POTATO first ;) hee hee!

Oh were you there? See, I didn't know about all these MTers there! Thank you very much for the feedback. I hope I entertained and gave the audience what they wanted to see - that for me is what it's about (in my vaaaaaast experience, obvs! ;) )
 
I must say I had a COMPLETE blast (and hope it showed) - I wasn't sure if I would or not, it was 50/50 for me whether I'd love it or freeze/get stagefright/hate being up there and come off stage with a "done that, never again!" feeling. So glad it went the other way.
 
As Annie U said to me in serious, hushed tones backstage..."Oh dear, I think you've got a bug, honey....

Well done Nic. I was pleased for you when I saw the results. Sorry I wasn't there but I sure will be at the finals. You look good on the photos, just keep it tight and steady now for the finals and you'll do well. Condition is a key in the ladies physique class, you don't have to be the biggest....and I speak from experience

One or two peeps over the years had given me the impression that politics are often at play within federations, that you can't go straight in and win (sorry if this offends anyone, it's just the sort of stuff people have implied to me over the years).
 
You have now debunked that myth for me!!!!And wow at your conditioning. To be honest having read you were already a dedicated athlete, I had an idea you'd do well. The level of commitment to training to swim the channel, and be a triathlete is pretty high so you were already half way there. Not saying it was easy of course!!!

Really? I have NO idea since no they are not long. In fact if anything I've always thought they're more "short and sturdy". I'm from a swimming background and I've got the traditional long (er) torso. Maybe it was good bikini-strap placement (?) I have no idea!

Outov interest how tall are you?
Standing next to Welshy you're still taller and she's in 3" heels LoL!
So, I'm guessing 5'7"ish, which means you're legs will always look long next to my short arse 5'2" stumps, bikini placement connot help me!

I was originally a swimmer (not to your heady levels thought), and do think I have a longer body too. When I'm posing in the mirror I look all upper body so was wondering if there is some secret, oh you're 5'7". I'm 3" shorter so perhaps that's it!

Well done. Really impressed with the conditioning you brought. You can see from your photos just how much hard work you have put in to attain such a lovely physique.
