Judo Session Lots of bodyweight conditioning tonight, which I enjoyed. However, I found I am totally useless at any bodyweight ab work where endurance is involved. Tons of bodyweight situps, hypers, and floor work is the answer :)!! Other than that, practiced a basic ippon throw a ton of times, and also learnt a footsweep which I liked. Judo DEFO gets the thumbs up lol!

Judo Night.. Fairly brutal warmup tonight! - Practiced ippon seniagi (not sure of the spelling, it's a shoulder throw).. Quite a few variations on it aswell.
- Did a good bit of ground work, including the arm bar (ju ji tatame iirc).. Very good coaching on that I have to say.
- Decent session of randori (sparring) both standing and on the floor (newaza).
Comment: I am strong compared to the average martial artist thanks to the powerlifting background, so i'm using this to my advantage on the mats. Have to learn how to control my aggression more. More like a savage explosive strength than a prolonged application of strength.

That phrase shall not be mentioned in this journal! I have a plan, a structure, and some real life knowledge. The antithesis of crossfit buddy! P.S. Watch out when I return to PL, my GPP and work capacity are going through the roof fella!

Judo Night - Lots of randori, both on the ground and from standing.
Success: Got my first Rear Naked Choke in training, and first proper ippon throw. Area for Development: Need to stay loose and fast. I am stronger than most down the club, but clearly their technique is a million times better. Strength is an asset/weapon, so I will use it.. However, I will take the lesson on board and try to be more explosive than strong, combined with some technique.

Probably the best i've done for conditioning. Very physical but also a mental element (figuring out how to move your body/shift BW). It's also pretty fun and the coaches are wicked. We don't have much of a wrestling tradition over here, but we have had some world class (olympic medallist) judo guys and girls. Thinking of organising a trip to Russia to see how the RUssian lads do it. They are animals @ judo, in a similar way to they are at @PL.

My brother used to be a member of a martial arts club up the road from Shenfield station near the adult learning college that did Karate, Judo, MMA, Kickboxing etc. Great sensai and decent facilities from what my brother said. He was a full member so could go to any class rather than paying individually - if you want i can find out the details. If cost is an issue at all buddy you are welcome to come use my gym if you like. It may as well get used as much as poss
Awesome pic, but Tony you're not doing yourself many favours posting up tips on preventing the gag reflex and then a picture of a guy touching his toes - Ak

Friday maybe? I plan on doing some more serious weights next week.. Found it hard to recover from the judo intially.

Back shot from tonight above. I'm currently 90-91kg.. Need to hit the weights more but there is tons of BW conditioning drills in Judo. Actually looking better now than when I was hitting the weights more often.

Yeah i'll get back to you a bit. Off to Witham Magistrates court next week to see something related to our boundary dispute. I'm working out a new routine - more of a structure to my training and some things at home so will update you and then we'll workout a time/day
