Opinions on OTC steroids 12 November 2009 20:18 (permalink)
Hi everyone
I've read a few articles here about otc steroids and a few people at the gym I go to have suggested they may be an option for me.

I'm 33, about 5ft 11" and weigh 11st 2lbs.  I train 3 times a week, no cardio just concentrating on strength and mass, if I add cardio I've found that I loose weight really quickly.

I currently eat 3 proper meals a day with 3 high protein (and high carb in the morning) snacks and my daily intake is usually between 4 and 5000 calories.  I add protein supplements to snacks to increase my intake, usually between 30 and 50g a serving.

So, I am a very hard gainer and am looking for advise as to whether products such as anabolic designs mass-plex would be a good idea?  I have spoken to few people who have used this recently and have noticed quite big and quick gains but the side effects and possible effects on your liver etc are making me think twice. Although the people I have spoken to have not noticed any side effects at all.

Just looking for any more info or advice from people who may have used such products or know more about them.

Cheers

Before you even think about OTC steroids i think you need to determine what makes you think you are  a hardgainer....i think people use this term to easilly. Post up your routine, nutrition and supplemntation and get some feedback on that before you even think about PH/DS etc....i'd guess if your eating near 500cals a day and getting adequate protein there are flaws in your training or recovery strategy.

            Hi DHX,

I would consider myslef a hardgainer too, but I think that that is a gross over-simplification of matters.

I was 150lb when I started bodybuilding and I am 6'4", so you can say that I was skinny as a rake. In my case, I simply didn't challenge my body enough whilst I was growing up. I always thought that I couldn't put on any weight.

I gained 10lb in the first year of bodybuilding and hit a plateau and didn't know how to keep growing. That is when I started to learn more about what I needed to do to challenege my body to keep it growing.

I had never done any supps prior to 2 months ago (except creatine and glutamine)

However, this last 8 weeks, I have gained 12lb of which about 3lb is fat, and the rest is muscle. I haven't tried the Prohormones that I have, as I wanted to use some natural Test boosters and OTS supps first.

A brief run down of what I use is as follows:
(all taken 3 times a day unless stated)

            2x caps Tribulus PRO
            2x caps HMB = 1.2g
            1x caps BioForge
            1x caps MethoxyIsoflavone

            + vits & EFA daily

Protein with 3g GABA, Taurine & Glutamine B4 bed

Which of the supps works, I can't tell you. But combined, my recovery is virtually zero. The next day, I fell great. Again, i think that the combination of factors is at work here.

I can't arsed to be cooking all the time, so I cook in bulk and eat when I am hungry. Between meals, I drink my protein shakes (about 3 a day).

I lift heavy and always do compound exercises, like pull-ups, squats, bench-press, bent rows, standing rows.

All of the above combined has lead to an enormous amount of growth in a short space of time - and I still have 10 days of the cycle of supps left to go

I hope that this info is of use to you.
