Overtraining 12 March 2010 00:41 (permalink)
Hi guys, could someone please give me some info on this. I normally do a 4 day a week split. As follows: Monday: Back
                                       Tuesday: Chest
                                       Wednesday: Legs
                                       Thursday: Shoulders
                                       Friday: Rest
                                       Saturday: Arms
                                       Sunday: Rest

But some weeks like at the moment Im unable to train on the saturday - committments. Would it make a big difference if If I train Arms on the friday and rest saturday and sunday instead. I know thats 5 days in a row without rest day but maybe since Back nd Chest was trained early in the week I would get away with training arms friday without overtraining? Just dont want to be slowing my gains through overtraining. Help Please!!!!!!!!!

    Where's back?

Depending what you're doing each day, it looks to me like your shoulders might get beat to **** training like that.

Overtraining is more than just what workouts you do on what days, it has to do with effort, volume, training experience, etc. It's something that really only you can answer; some people (myself included) are able to get away with training quite frequently, while others can't handle more than 3 moderate sessions each week. Just play around with it and see - imho though, no matter where you put an arm day, it won't slow your progress

Back on Mondays, sorry i never wrote it very clearly but look again, lol! Ye i know what your saying about frequency and intensity. Training quite hard considering volume and intensity, dont really feel it in the body, im just worried that without my arms getting the proper rest from shoulders 2day if it would interefere growth in arms 2moro? Apart from that, alls good!

You'll probably be fine; if you're worried about it, just cut some volume from the workout if you do it Friday. In general though arm movements are so small they won't really hurt your recovery
