Re:PANGGG!!!! Hitting a badger with a shovel... 21 May 2010 07:08 (permalink)
after taking over a week out due to baby being ill, followed by me being ill, i managed to venture back into the garage last night.

Squats
50kg x8
70kg x5
85kg x5
95kg x5
100kg x5

Bench
50kg x5
52.5kg x5
55kg x5

95kg squats felt fairly good, considering when i tried 95kg a month ago, i struggled to get it from the rack. 100kg in fairness felt like i was using my back a fair bit to get the weight up

    Thursday:
    Squats
        50kg x8
        70kg x5
        85kg x5
        95kg x5
        100kg x5
    Bench
        50kg x5
        55kg x5
        57.5kg x5
        50kg x4

    BH Monday:
    Squats
        50kg x8
        70kg x5
        85kg x5
        95kg x5
        100kg x5

    Bench:
        50kg x5
        57.5kg x5/5

    Deadlift:
        105kg x5

Its the end of May.  Time to assess!
Weight gain has been fail. i'm still between 83/84kg.  BF% according to Tanita is showing at anything between 19-22%.  Looking in the mirror, i can see i have trimmed a little BF but not a lot.

Strength has definitely improved though, with PB's of:
    Squat 100kg =128% of BW
    BP 57.5kg =78% of BW
    DL 105kg =134% of BW
    OHP 35kg =51% of BW
    BOR 45kg =63% of BW
    (+bar weight 7.5kg)

Bit dissapointed at the weight gain side of things, however i'm pleased that the lifts are coming along nicely.  Squat and DL getting closer to 1.5x BW.

I'll run with what i'm doing training wise, for another 6 weeks.  I'm hoping to buy a bicycle so i can cycle to the station every day (11mile round trip) this should help lose some BF%.

Eating wise, i clearly need to increase by a few hundred cals.

      Monday
      Squats
      50 x5
      85 x5
      95 x5
      102.5 x5

      Bench Press
      50 x5/5/5

      Close Grip Bench Press
      25 x20/10

Couldnt do any more after this, arms were so pumped after the CGBP.  Attempted some OHP at 25kg but struggled.  In retrospect, i could have done DL's.

i'm feeling a bit down about the training.  Weights seem to be going down a touch, that i can understand as i'm doing a bit more running, which will have the knock on effect.

Body weight hasn't changed at all though. Even a small gain would at least give me an indication that i'm going the right way, but nothing.

I'm out of products for knocking up my weight gainer, and to be fair, it was a pain in the ass putting it all together anyway!  If i can find an 'all in one' that has creatine, protein, carbs, and around 5-600 cals then maybe i'll move onto that come payday.

and i am STILL having problems with the elbows, and not been to the doc's about it.

Actually, i've completely lost faith in our GP.  When the missus goes there and gets given a prescription, she then has to ask the GP if its ok whilst breastfeeding, as the GP doesnt check the notes.
At least 4 times now, the prescription has had to be changed as the original was not suitable whilst breastfeeding.  You'd think the doc would read the notes, and then ask if still breastfeeding... grrrr!

went for a run yesterday lunchtime in the searing heat.  4.37 miles in 43m15.

                mile 1: 8m18
                mile 2: 8m41

                then walked/jogged the remainder
                mile 3: 12m34
                mile 4: 11m04

                avg speed 9.54mins/mile.

previous average over 3mile distance was 10m03/mile.  So despite having to walk/jog the latter half of the longer route, the average time improved.

Still, it had been around 15 years since i've done any running, and with a 20/day habit, i think its not a bad start.

Lighter weights, higher reps last night

                  Squats
                  50kg x20/20

                  OHP
                  20kg x20/16/12

                  BOR
                  20kg x20/19/16

The OHP and BOR were alternate sets, ie. OHP/BOR/OHP/BOR/OHP/BOR with very little rest between.

hard training in the garage during this heat.  Lowered weight, increased reps, but found it hard going.
                    BP
                    20kg x15/15
                    35kg x10/10
                    45kg x8/8
                    20kg x10

                    CGBP
                    20kg x15/10

                    OHP
                    20kg x8

No more running at the moment as trainers have practically fallen apart.  Payday will bring new Nike's maybe, and perhaps some BBW whey

Not sure that my grip was close enough on the cgbp's, it was on the very edge of the knurled area of the bar, so hands maybe around 14" apart.

Elbows seem to have made a recovery at last! Not perfect, but hugely improved and no real pain from them.  That said, my back is fooked, think i may have twisted a little dueing deadlifts. I'll drop them for a week and see how it is.

Last day at work today, after 5 years of dedicating myself to this site, building rapport with the client, improving the team etc etc, i am being moved to another site. Something i am not happy about and will cripple my family financially on travel costs alone.  Kinda feel like i've had a leg amputated.

been nearly 4 months since my last update...  works been hard, not getting home until 7:30pm at the earliest, and by time baby is sorted out into bed etc, i just havent had time to hit the garage gym with any conviction.

                                  bit gutted about that.

however, i have been doing a lot of cycling! 25 miles a day on days where i've been able to cycle to work, so generally speaking, 3 days a week.  thats an hour each way.

also, i have been accepted for the London Marathon!  I will be running on behalf of the Outward Bound Trust, and have pledged to raise £1750 for them.  I havent managed to get out and do any running yet, but need to get that underway asap.

i have maintained a bodyweight of 83kg +/-  but as the tanita scales took a trip across the bedroom and smashed off the wall (!) i couldnt guess the BF%.  It has definitely dropped though :)  i had to replace them with a set of tesco value scales lol!

if anyone would like to put a donation towards my charity, the link is below.  Doesnt matter how big or small the donation is, it all helps. virginmoneygiving will also claim gift aid on behalf, so a tenner donated would be £12.82 that the Outward Bound Trust actually receive :)

the runnings been going well, more like gentle jogging, but the duration has been steadily increasing up to 1.5hours so far.

Unfortunately the knee gives out long before the lungs.  Have recently been in for xrays on my knee and blood tests for arthritis.  Been prescribed anti inflammatory's to help and they do seem to take the edge off the night time pains.  Waiting for results of xrays/bloods.

Weight is now down to 80kg.  Going to increase cal intake to come back up to 83+

Have just received MP order of hurricane xs.  Decided to go with an all in one rather than protein/self mix.  Less messing about on my part, just chuck it in the shaker, add milk, shake, neck it.

Fundraising is happenin very slowly!  I'm a long way off my £1750 target.  I'm trying to sort out a deal with work... i'm working on a laptop refresh project for a large company (wont mention the name) and trying to wrangle a deal to take home some of the 'old' laptops that are for disposal.  They're not old. And they are decent working machines!  If i can take 10-15 of them, i can refurb them (i'm manufacturer certified to do this), resell and put the proceeds into the charity account.  Wether they'll allow this i dont know.  Large corporates are funny about this sort of thing, but i've put it into writing to the correct people so fingers crossed they'll do something.
