This is all terrible. I really hope you two get it sorted safely and to your satisfaction (same goes for everyone else out there). It really is awful. :(

Sorry to hear you're affected Liz

I don't understand why these companies are not insured? Surely they've not followed due diligence in checking out their suppliers more thoroughly and on going checks. Do they not get safety certificates of manufacture or something similar? Gosh, every chemical drum we used to get in the carpet industry I worked in came with a certificate of conformity etc. Seems we had tighter regulations than something potentially directly damaging to a persons health. It stinks to me of negligence, they have obviously gone for a cheaper source, did that not raise their suspicions?

I don't think it should be 100% down to the NHS to cover the cost. It should be the companies themselves who did the work in the first place and the government need to pursue this IMO. The NHS should only be involved where any company may now not be in existence or there is some urgency to the case that the company can not cope with but then costs should still be sent on!! Whatever happens, I don't think the "wait and see what happens" situation is fair to all women concerned. I'd hate to be waking everyday wondering if this was the day they could burst or even be frightened of doing something that might cause damage to them.

A couple of companies ARE replacing free of charge .

The company i used (Hospital group) were charging £2600 for replacement a couple of weeks ago, this has come down to £1500.  So dont jump in- it just lets them cash in on it!

Luckily for me i only had a mammogram and ultrasound 3 months ago and have another one booked for 2 weeks time so I'm not in the panic that some women might be.

here's some lovely reading on the boss behind the scandal!

i believe the british government approved the implants when they were still ok.......

        Shocking aint it?
Makes you sick to think that these companies play on insecurities, then when there products go wrong they expect you to either compromise your happiness, to die, or to maintain your happiness by paying more for something that should of been 100% up to scratch from the start.

I had heard that they had been approved in the beginning Liz, but they should still continue to do checks. It's common sense!! Any other industry does.

Im sure its a Trading Standards legal requirement?
Im also sure there will be loads of courtcases over this, where every women can sue the arse off of PIP and get there replacements. And hopefully stop all future fcuk ups on the matter...

So annoyed at this quote from him "He also said he had "nothing" to say to women facing surgery for their removal and that victims had only filed complaints "to make money".  Was he not trying to make more money by using a cheaper product?? hypocritical git.

                  Do not accept that offer!

I had PIP implants through transform, they have been very unsympathetic, in fact down right rude. I found out that BMI private hospital group are offering removal and replacement for £2500 for any woman who has PIP implants. I know that is more money than you have been offered with your company but at least you can still sue the b*****ds! Hopefully we will all get some money back. I cant stand the thought of giving money back to Transform after what they have done, interestingly BMI have agreed to remove and replace for free for their own clients - a much better company to go for, they seem to have some morals!
Good luck with your surgery, I am very distressed about the whole situation and dreading going through it again but like you say 'time bomb'. I dont know anyone else in my situation, please private message me if you want to have a chat about it.
