Possibly the stupidest thing I have ever done.... - 10 July 2009 12:13 ( #1 )
OK... I have committed in public to entering a competition. Not to win but just to stand on stage in a bikini in my 40th year to say 'cop a load of this'to all those who laugh at my protein shakes and my obsession with fish !

Now I need help.... does any one do personal training / coaching? I am looking for some one who can point me in the right direction, offer help on training programmes/diet etc.

I can commit to seeing the trainer once a month as a minimum ( working on the principle that I can train independently in between times) I don't mind travelling to meet up with my trainer ( thought Sat /Sun would be best for this)

I would do it at my own gym ..but they don't seem to get it...

So, any offers? Or can anyone suggest a trainer to speak to?

Thanks in advance

Cuch xx

Wow, that's fab news. Turning 40 was what made me get on stage too. Didn't want to face being fat and forty and managed to prove those wrong who thought I couldn't do it, including my own hubbie!!

James offers the full service you require through Healthy Action including the training but not sure if you're after someone to physically train  you there or just advise you.

Got me all excited now. Have you a comp and category in mind?

I guess I am initially looking for advice and guidance, not neccessarily somebody there, I'm confident enough to do that alone ( especially now the blokes in the free weights area have stopped snarling and sometimes actually smile) I would love to do physique, think I have the body shape for it but not sure I can pile on that much bulk... open to advice on that one. Looking into comps at the moment, once I find one I'll sign up ( again advice welcome) Need a goal, need a vision and need a bikini..

Re:Possibly the stupidest thing I have ever done.... - 11 July 2009 07:52 ( #4 )
Soooooo...physique!!!! Your options are then tested or untested shows. Untested shows, you'll obviously need to look at supplementation unless you are genetically gifted or want to wait years to build up a comparative physique!! The main fed in this case is the UKBFF as Nabba only have physique at Universe level.

Last years UKBFF heavy wt winners

Obviously these girls are the top in the country but show the standard required to suceed at that level. There is then the NAC shows which are pretty small in the UK and there are currently only 2 shows per year, both open national shows. I entered one last year to continue on my diet after I was not happy with myself at the BNBF finals. I got first!!!! BUT as I knew before I turned up, I was the only one in my class.......just glad it was for self improvement, it's not the best experience being up there alone!!

Tested feds, generally less muscular particularly at national level but some cracking conditions. I compete in the BNBF physique and weigh around the 7st (44kg) mark!! Well I am only a short arse. There is no class split at qualifiers for the BNBF but if sufficient entries at the finals they will split either by weight or height whichever allows them to have a balanced number in each class (quite a good way I think as it stops one class being over dominant). The NPA use weight classes and split even at qualifiers.

These are last years heavy weight winners at the BNBF finals

If you wanted to still build a more muscular physique but didn't want the bulk as in the untested shows then you could always look at trained figure in Nabba which IMO is the hardest look to achieve. (This is the Malika/Rachel/Kath look). Wide shoulders, teeny waist, shaped sharp legs without being too bulky and an extremely sculpted bum!!

If you're only after guidance for now then I'm sure we'd be able to help you on here for now, so get posting

Is that next year? Get to some shows if you can and have a look at the real size of people, if your going natural then there is the BNBF central in 2 weeks time in St Albans then in Sept theres the NPA in Tring so not far to travel. I will text Lou for you..(I know I said I would before!) and see what help she can offer, would be worth meeting her if you can again to see someone in the flesh size wise as she is competing in September with UKBFF. She trains with Karen Marillier http://www.theforestgym.co.uk/Karen_Marillier/karen_marillier.html

Cuch, if you were interested in diet and training as Kitty says Healthy Action can offer you both taking you right through to your competition.  You are not far from us so training with Mod Micky, our fitness consultant,  once a month should not be a problem.  Well done for making the decision to do it!

Guys

Thanks ever so much for all the support.  Hazel ~ I did mention Healthy Action to my other half this morning and you are on my list to contact today!

Jesse ~ thanks for the update on the shows, it would be great to speak with some one, much appreciated.

Kitty ~ thanks for your enthasism and all round brillance. It was your photo that got me into this in the first place, so your support is invaluable.

I have worked out my initial training plan and I wil post it in my 'Keeping Sane' Journal today, would really like people to rip it apart and improve it.

Thanks again to everyone, you are great.

I'm not known for making great decisions in my private life but lady lovely, I did it and loved it.....you will LOVE it too!  Would be great to have a Masters division for both figure and physique (i know some feds to an over 35 physique class but Masters sounds sooooo much classier don't you think?)

Well done you!

Look forward to reading your journal to see how you are getting on my dear!

Hi all

So, I have  put my initial training plan and diet into my progress journal. I am overwhelmed by the support & positivity. If I don't do it, I feel I'll be letting everyone down, not just myself.

Thank you all so much.

Good luck
