RECOVERY DRINKS
29 January 2012 12:23
( permalink)
I usually take a recovery drink post workout. I have been skint recently with xmas and stuff so ive been mixing a cheap isotonic sports drink with a scoop of whey instead it's probably not nutritionally as benficial but it strangely tastes very much like a particularly expensive brand of drink. I don't really understand all the ingridients but im guessing they are both full of simple sugars. If there is a resident expert on these matters i'd love to know more ( reps probably aren't impartial) Any info would be appreciated.

Simple sugars easily absorbed proteins are the cornerstones of these products. Whey + sports drink is a fine recovery drink.

Whey in water and a banana does well for me, don't see the need for an "expensive" recovery formula.

A lot of times my energy isn't too bad so leave the carbs out. Or maybe just 1 orange. Other times I need time. I suppose it's all about knowing your body really.

Yep unless dieting I can't a great demand for ramming sugars down pwo I have my shake as above then around 30mins later a protein pancake - I put 50g of oats in this / 6 egg whites and 50g protein blend :)
