Dynamic Turtle Well having had a brief look down some of the replies here, I'm shocked that so many of you have mentioned Harvester and Nandos. They serve utter dog tripe. You have to be careful of steak houses that smother their cuts with butter to give it that glazed look. Also, those of you that have mentioned KFC & McDs and thai/curry houses etc. I assume you're joking right? Ditto Pizza? Look, I know food & restaurants outside of london are a joke (spend many weekends in hastings & eastbourne unfortunately) and getting decent food anyway is a struggle, but there HAVE to be better optios than the places you've mentioned. I think one of the main things keeping from moving out of London (apart from millions of young women) is the paucity of restaurants and the general obliviousness displayed towards having a healthy diet and quality food. It's all about drinking ten pints of lager a night and then having a £2.50 cooked breakfast at Whetherspoons. The only place I can get a sandwich without a ton of Anchor butter in it, is M&S :-( Anyway, I'm blissfully happy with all the sushi/lebanese/persian/moroccan joints around town. plenty of decent steakhouses too. Best place is whole foods markets in high street ken, which is heaven! Rgds, A very spoilt DT this dude likes london, you think ?

I agree with Kitty about looking at the menu, you can often be tempted into an extra dish which you didn't plan on. If you explain to the waiter why you have requested something, they're almost always very helpful. I still get strange looks in hotels when asking for half dozen poached eggs for breakfast though... Ok, some places in Swansea: Clarys at the Aspers Casino; Fantastic value, service and the food is great. They will modify any dish for you, and will even replace chips with couscous! The pork steak wrapped in parma ham is great. Starts at £8.50 a main on a weekend evening which is great value. La Parrella; On SA1. Great quality of food, very nice wine bar but pricey. Huge selection of fish, all on display and you pay by weight, almost like going to a market. The Village Hotel; Good value, great service, food varies, but good. They're also a health club so are used to catering for any diet. Those are my favourites (all are more alacarte than Harvester affairs).

Kimo's a greek/moroccan place in Liverpool is ideal and often full of bbuilders. Basic chicken kebab, all frilled with rice more rice. Decent size. For cutting they do shredded chicken (negotiable quality though so might be pumped with dextrose) and have that with salad. Mayo, Pitta and Chilli sauce optional! Green tea selection not bad I find with most good restaurants its hit and miss, either rich over the top food where you cant get away form sauces and mash, to great ones where its nice and basic .... good fillet with cabbage and edamame beans (Bar and Grill-Liverpool)

It goes against the "clean bulk" idea that many people like to promote, but I think burger joints are some of the best bodybuilding restaurants for building mass. Burgers are protein and calorie-packed, and they just taste damn good. Obviously you have to guage how much your body can handle this, but if you're already reasonably big, or if you're a really skinny guy trying hard to gain weight, you can definitely get away with it.

Liverpool- Kimos as has been said Wok-it on Smithdown road....you choose from various noodles/ rice, you choose your ingredients which are things like chicken, beef, tofu, veg, then you choose your sauce and get a good portion for less than a fiver Sapporo Teppanyaki, steak, fish, prawns a-plenty, all with veg, bit pricey, but good Manchester- again Sapporo and wagamama wasabi sushi in chinatown is v. cheap for sushi at lunch a couple of the rodizio all you can eat brazilian bbq's called 'paubrazil' (google them) London- all the rodizios, one at the O2, one in Angel, one in Putney and one in Harlesden that I know of A spanish all you can eat buffett with meats and fish to spare in Hammersmith station £6;50 a head Ping-Pongs in Waterloo on a sunday for all you can eat dim-sum........amazing

new ones for the Manchester area another Wasabi sushi restaurant in the printworks, cheap, but good quality sushi for anyone near chorlton-cum-hardy (or as most people will know it 'chorlton') there's a fishmongers in the centre called 'out of the blue' who do the best sushi I have ever tasted, they do a big tray for £6.99, they also do sashimi too on Cross street in town there is a 'wings' takeaway, which is more sushi and meat with rice and in the arndale centre there are two more 'wings' outlets which do the sushi and also do a good bit of sliced meat on top of either boiled or steamed rice for £3:50

lat thought for now, there's a large health food shop in chorlton near manchester called 'the unicorn' who do many various foods good for bodybuilders, my favourite is their individual tofu cheesecakes, they taste pretty damn good and are a much healthier alternative to a regular cheesecake

Just worth mentioning Tuc. The harvester I mentioned on the first page, and in fact the inspiration for this thread has become a complete craphole! At first the food was lovely but not its not. The salad bar is the only good bit of it. I ordered a medium steak and it came out 45 minutes later crimated. This is the second time its happened. If I wasn't so hungry i'd have sent it back! Shame really. Haven't eaten in Kimos for years but I remember it doing pretty fine sarnies.

I've been to the harvester for a drink, but not food, sounds like I'm not missing much now. Kimos is decent, a big mixed kebab, basically a mixed grill with salad, rice and pitta is £6-7, pretty good

Days in Brighton All you can eat buffet the do every type of food, chinese, indian, russian, morrocan, the lot. Theres a giant hot plate where you can get them to cook you a steak (only a small one), chicken, pork chops, lobster. You can go as healthy or unhealthy as you want. But its hard to resist the deserts....its about 10 metres long with chocolate fountains, haribo, mini cheesecakes and a lot more. For lunch its 6.50 a head but for dinner its 13.50. There's a lot more choice for dinner though.

What about "The Firehouse" in Venice CA. Has anybody been there? Awesome food. Special sections for bodybuilders. They have even buffalo burgers, omlettes, protein pancakes.... the list goes on and on. Phone number is 310 396 6810. I could not find the menu online but they are easy to find. 3 minutes on foot from The Mecca :-) On Mainstreet. Arnold and Franco used to have their food there!
