When I was low carb dieting I loved Nandos too but seriously, it is over priced for some anorexic chickens.

I could easily eat a whole chicken there and not be full up.

I used to order the 1/2 chicken, extra hot with a feta cheese salad - but I won't pay their prices anymore.

We have found a few good pubs that will allow you to change your dish a bit and maybe make one up for you.

http://www.theblueballpub.co.uk/pages/key.html

They do great burgers - hold the bun and have a big salad instead of chips.

There is better choice from the restaurant menu and they will still serve that in the bar area.

Their goats cheese salad is gorgeous - I always get them to add bacon. Their bacon is from a local butcher and is the nicest I've ever tasted.. Yummy! The salad also  includes walnuts, grapes and apples.

Steaks are pricey but delicious.

Portions are massive and I can rarely finish my meal.

Another one that will improvise a little for you is The Star on the Leatherhead Road near to Chessington World of Adventures.

http://www.baronspubs.com/star/

^^ not as good as the Blue Ball but not bad.

1. Hickory's Smokehouse in Chester. Basically its an american BBQ type restaurant! Went for the smokehouse platter which had:

Kansas ribs
memphis ribs
Buffalo wings
Pulled pork
Brisket of beef

...aboslutely delish!

http://www.hickorys.co.uk/

2. Old bank steak and ribs in Brighton - fast becoming a favourite of mine. Some may remember i attempted the 68oz steak challenge there not too long ago, they also do a mean 28oz ribeye, which is meant for 2 but doable for one :) Also mondays is all you can eat ribs night :)

For those of us in Glasgow, I gotta recommend Tropeiro (http://www.tropeiro.co.uk/)

All you can eat meat and salad bar for £18.95  You get a small card that is green on one side and red on the other.  They will keep serving you meat until that card is flipped to red, and the meat is pretty good!  Great variety of cuts of beef, chicken, pork, lamb and some sausages thrown in.  Service is excellent, food is tasty and there's a LOT of it!  Oh, and the spicy sauces are bloody marvellous!

Charco's Leeds area, grilled chicken TASTY.
Kind of a cheaper version of Nandos but if your rolling in it try that.

think irish beast mentioned it earlier in the thread, but harvesters do an option where you choose a meat/ fish , choose a carb based side (baked potato and new potatoes available) and get unlimited salad bar, not amazing food, but a steak, some new potatoes and loads of salad is better than a lot of options available
I wish I was more attractive like Dagless.

I agree with all who say Nandos, I swear I burn more fat from their extra hot Peri Peri than from a sprint *

Not scientficaly proven but the way it makes me sweat makes me think its true!

I love Cosmo Chinese buffet Really good food, and some of it very lean unlike most chinese restraunts. They do steamed king prawns, chicken breast, lean beef, shredded pork and duck, tepanyaki grill with steak, crab, squid, scallops etyc, loads of veg. No cheap but not expensive either around £12 a head and cheaper at lunch .
They have them in the following places:
Bristol
Cardiff Bay
Chatham
Coventry
Croydon
Eastbourne
Hastings
Hastings Royale
Romford
Swansea
Swindon
Tunbridge Wells

One more for Charcos in Leeds, one on Roundhay Road near us. Do take-away as well on just-eat for those on wierd shifts and call-out like myself!
Quality & size of chicken in very good.
Very similar to Nandos - Portugese style chicken.

Surprisingly KFC now have a cutting option.
Brazer Salad.

Mariated grilled chicken breast, no coating with a green salad. Don't add the dressing and leave the croutons out and it's a cutting winner for £3.89 :-)

A great option if you happen to be in a rush, with mcdonalds, ask for their grilled chicken wrap with no sauces (sauces are light mayo and sunblush tomoatoe, i normally drop the mayo but keep the tommy sauce), nice side salad (no dressing) and a water...all for 3.99. This comes in very handy, espceially when I get an early shift and forget my lunch.....may also help working their that I dont have to pay for this option.

Overall anywhere you go, you can eat nicely wihtout worry, and most places theese days will change their tiems to suit you.

Subway for me if I need something quick, I usually get the footlong Club but on only 6" of wholemeal.

Nando's (as has been said countless times already).

Went to TGI's the other night and got their T -Bone with a double helping of rice which was pricey but lovely.

There's a buffet establishment by me (Red Hot I think is the brand) and they do most type of foods.

Cut, bulk or just a good meal, its nearly all made in front of you and essentially any eating goals can be hit.

Nando's ftw! I read in pro wrestler Triple H's book that he pretty much has a restaurant in every single town in America that he goes to, where he knows he'll get a good quality meal. Much be really hard to eat right if your on the road as much as those guys....

Harvester like you said, good portion sizes not a great dessert menu which is great too even if I am a sucker for cheesecake. Other than that I just ask to cut the marinades and stick to rice or potatoes with veg, can do that anywhere pretty much.

I have to give a shout to Foxy's in Hove, East Sussex.
Right next to Hove train station and they do Steak there that you select the weight of, they cook is how you like, even ask about seasoning - and best of all they do it right in front of you so you can have total confidence you'll get a clean meal!

i bloody love nandos - a friend works there and gets whole chickens to take home at the end of the day - my freezer has 6 in :)

to me, the extra hot sauce doesn't taste any hotter than the hot sauce (it's all about the extra extra hot sauce in the little black bottles)

Thumbs off for Nandos from me too!
On Sunday I got 2 Double Chicken breast burger and 2 of their rice dishes (tiny dishes btw...more like saucers!). Didn't bother with the buns and just had the chicken, lettuce, tomatoe oh and pineapple slice! Bloody pricey enough too! Especially when you factor in the missus and kids!

I'm another that woks away LOTS!

Some times hunting for a good restaurant is a real pain in the arse! I've found that wetherspoons do a skinny chicken burger - a butterflied chicken breast in a bun and side salad. Think it's a quid for an extra chicken breast so all in its about 6 quid for the meal and it's consistent through all the places I've been at....

I love steak. For those of you who are prepared to throw a little money at it, there are some really good steakhouses in London. Some are quite upmarket but the quality of the steak is fantastic i.e. usually grass fed beef (USDA/Argentinian).

Hawksmoor
Goodman's
Sophie's Steakhouse
Gaucho

Hawksmoor is downright amazing.

Anyone heard of Roosters? There's one in Portswood Southampton and I'm sure they have a few others kicking around. I go once a week with a couple of guys from rugby and it's amazing. They do Peri Peri chicken but it's so much cheaper than Nando's. You can choose how hot you want it (although even "Mild n Easy" seems hot as fk)!

Me and a mate get a mega mixed platter between us which consists of:
2 Whole Chickens
12 Chicken Wings
12 Chicken Strips
2 Sides (Coleslaw ftw)
1 salad
1.5L bottle of Diet Coke

Costs £29.99 so £15 each but we always have 5% off as you get a little 5% off your next order voucher with every receipt. As we go so often they chuck way more chicken on the plate as well, we usually get around 20 strips and 20 wings. So good.
