For anyone looking for a good for you takeaway/restaurant:

    http://www.leonrestaurants.co.uk/

They're dotted around London, but I've just started working in the Bluewater one and I'm loving it! The meatballs are amaaaaazing.

All of the main dishes come with brown rice and LEON slaw, and their sauce in their chicken wraps is simply yoghurt with garlic, rather than mayo. Also, their brownies are made from ground almonds instead of flour and taste delicious.

If anyone's ever around Bluewater looking for something other than the usual takeaway food then pop in and give it a try!

Nawaab in Levenshulme (near Manchester and Stockport) must be the biggest indian restaurant in the UK and possibly anywhere outside asia.

As you would expect you can have whatever you like which includes stuff like chicken tikka pieces, fish pieces, lamb chops etc. also salad, rice, and dozens of other curry dishes if you prefer.

      about a tenner each

Wouldnt a link to a site such as www.moneysavingexpert.com be a good idea, if not please remove. But it has vouchers for a lot of restaurants, such as ask, if your on a bulk,  buy one get one free burgers are a great deal, thats  £10 for two real steak burgers with fries and salad. Just an idea

For those of you in Liverpool

Went to a place the other day for a carvery. Can't remember its name but it used to be called the Britannia (might still be). Its in South Liverpool by the waterfront

Anyway for £3.50 we got a hell of a meal! I was expecting minimal meat and soggy veg a la Toby Carvery. However he have a few good slices of each meat and even cut the fat off, which was a nice touch.

Very high quality indeed and a steal at that price. Its £6.50 on a Sunday by the way

Must say though, despite the size, it was still lovely ....

how do most people feel about curry houses/takeaways but the dry tandoori meats like chicken, lamb etc,

i would of thought if you had to have something this would be the healthier option,

                what do you think?

My local curry house does a "Tandori (sp) mixed grill" which is what I choose most times.... as long as you are having it once or twice a month and not 2-3 times a week, I'm sure any choice would be ok as a "treat" as long as your diet is relatively clean for the remainder of the time??

                      Tractor,
Unfortunately the portion sizes don't change whether you eat in or take out. I must admit, that you don't get loads in terms of meat with the main dishes. My guess is that this is because all of the ingredients are top notch, so if they were to put more meat in, then this cost would be passed on to the customer.

Admittedly it's not the cheapest place to eat, but at least you know that you're putting some good food into your body that hasn't been pumped full of rubbish.

Just a quick question, how did you find the service there?

Service was 2nd to none.. in and out within 5 mins max, and staff very polite and friendly.... didn't pick a massively busy time, as I went during work time, and didnt want to be hanging around... would rec it to others though... I am right in thinking they do porridge or am I making that up... if so I'll be popping to try that one day as well

You would be correct with the porridge, although that's only before 11. You've got the choice of various toppings too. May I say that the chocolate sprinkles is a personal favourite It's pretty expensive dark chocolate with a high cocoa percentage too, so you don't have to feel guilty

Good to hear that you had a good experience too.

                                  Days in Brighton

All you can eat buffet the do every type of food, chinese, indian, russian, morrocan, the lot. Theres a giant hot plate where you can get them to cook you a steak (only a small one), chicken, pork chops, lobster. You can go as healthy or unhealthy as you want. But its hard to resist the deserts....its about 10 metres long with chocolate fountains, haribo, mini cheesecakes and a lot more.

For lunch its 6.50 a head but for dinner its 13.50. There's a lot more choice for dinner though.

how do people feel about sushi, is this good for you?

Yes.  Good fats and protein from the fish.
                                    I like the wasabi myself!

Thanks for the advice .... I find it soooo hard to eat well when going out to restaurants. You never know the quality of the food. Being a body-builder, the better quality food you put into your body, the better you'll feel and perform.

Here's my take on Manchester food spots:

New Sami on Whitworth Street, I absolutely love this place. You can get all you can eat sushi and lunch time for £10. Can't say better than that!!

Bem Brazil on great ancoats, Similar to places mentioned before. All you can eat, salad bar and they come round with meat. Just hold of on the crap stuff like the sausages and wait for the good meat like the steaks.

There are a couple more of these dotted around town.
Tropiero off sackville street and another one near deansgate.

Simply Delish, is a great little deli for lunch or breakfast and is themed on healthy eating. Great salads, sandwiches, home made soups, hot specials.
Great variety and specials everyday. Fantastic for dieting. http://www.simplydelish.co.uk

Oh yeah and don't forget nados haha
