Revised routine - Mass build - thoughts welcome.

I have more or less been on frankies mass building for many months now (4x6) training at home. It has been good and some progress, However I would like to tweek a few things. One thing that is bothering me a bit is doing standard deadlift and stiff leg in one week, as it feels a bit much. Not sure if i need more time to recover. The key goal is strength really. ========TUE - Back/Bi============== Standard DL - 3 sets of 8-10 Lower weight this time so not to harsh. Wide grip chins - 4 sets of 6 Dumbell or hammer curls - 4 sets of 6 Crunches =========FRI - Chest/Tri/shoulder======= Flat bench press - 4 sets of 6 Military BB press - 4 sets of 6 Dips 2 sets of 16 or skulls 4 sets of 6 I seem to float between dips and skulls, not sure if this is a good idea or not or just do weighted dips for lower reps. ==========SUN Legs========= Squats - 4 sets of 6 Stiff leg dead lifts - 4 sets of 6 Calf raises,??? Crunches Either do weighted or higher reps, not sure. Cheers for looking.

Hi mate, I do the PUSH/PULL/LEGS routine which aint too disimilar to your routine... I dropped the SLDL's from my routine and replaced it with Leg Press... So my leg day is : Squats 5x5 Calf Raises 3x10-12 Leg Press 5x5 Weighted Cruches/sit ups 3x10-12 Seems to work well for my legs.... Personally I have both Dips and Skull Crushers on my PUSH day Weighted dips 4x6 and Skull Crushers 3x10-12 Also on my back day I've been doing T-bar rows 5x5 straight after DL's... Killer!! lol Other than that I think your routine looks good... I've been doing mine for just over 3months and been hitting plateaux so after next week I'm going to switch it up a bit for a while like change the sets and reps to 3x10 and alter the exercises slightly for e.g. Change from back squats to front squats, BB curls to DB hammer curls, etc... Shock the body a bit and see if it helps when I switch back to 5x5 because ultimately I want to be stronger and bigger!

Why would you replace SLDL with Leg Press? They're totally different movements, one is quad dominant and the other is posterior chain dominant. You therefore have no posterior chain dominant lift on your legs day. I would definitely include SLDL or Good Mornings in there. Personally I would add in another quad dominant movement AS WELL, like leg press or lunges etc, but I certainly wouldn't replace SLDL!
JOURNAL I'm tougher than leather, I'm smoother than suede, Always never broke 'cos I'm usually paid.

To be honest I'm still learning and getting a feel for what I feel is right... I dropped SLDL's mainly because how my routine was PULL on a Wednesday and come Friday for Legs my hamstrings and lower back were still abit achey from Deads on the Wednesday and it just felt like my hams were gonna snap doing the SLDL... Personal choice really I guess.

For me personaly I want do keep the stiff leg deads... already have the squat for quads. I have also decided after watching a video to not do bent over rows anymore. It seems a lot of people **** their backs up.
