Routine / Shoulders!

I had about 5 Posterior shoulder dislocations over the years (a rear dislocation vs more common frontal) due to rugby, I finally opted for tightening surgery and had it 11 months ago. They cut the ligaments slack and tighten them. I did many months of sole physio and then slowly worked back into a lifting routine with some iso exercises and recently switched up to a lower rep more compound oriented 3 day 5x5 split routine as follows. As for nutrition I generally carry a bit of a calorie surplus, nothing too intense: I'm currently 6'3 - 230lbs/104.5kg Day 1 Flat Bench Power Cleans Skull Crushers Day 2 Squats SLDL Calf Raises Day 3 DL DB rows BB curls I would like some suggestions on a good shoulder exercise. Due to the surgery my left shoulder stabilizers were shot and physio has helped with that but I'm still lagging on flat bench among other things. I've so far settled with Power Cleans as I've always been a big fan and enjoyed them but I feel they might be too compound - My GP and every physiotherapist I've ever been to suggests to avoid over head push exercises which has been depressing because pre-sugery shoulders was one of my favorite muscle groups to do and it seems I have to eliminate db/bb shoulder press/military press from any routine I do. Any and all suggestions on a good non overhead shoulder exercise are welcome as are additional comments about my routine - routine goals are simply to get back to where I was pre surgery, which I'm close to other than my flat bench; ultimately my shoulders!! I have time enough to add maybe one additional routine on each day. Sorry for the novel, Thanks! (I was doing incline/decline along with flat bench during iso phase to help with rounded development but opted out to just flat in above which may or may not be the best idea)

If overhead pushing exercises are a problem you could give upright rows a try they hit the traps too, however most compoudn shoulder work involves pressing above the head!

naththebeast If overhead pushing exercises are a problem you could give upright rows a try they hit the traps too, however most compoudn shoulder work involves pressing above the head! That is the last movement I would choose to recommend. You may be OK but I would avoid this bigtime. (Sorry Nath, I'm only bolding it so Figgsy doesn't try it!) TBH mate you need to work with someone face to face. There is a lot more worth to the advice of someone who has had a chance to examine you than someone who is just guessing at what you should do.
