Agree, certainly mental! Why don't you try some circuit style routines if you are looking for endurance? Remember boar used to do some pretty crazy routines if you are looking for inspiration!

Get rid of the DOMS aswell after training sooner rather than later , if you catch my drift. Did look at boars stuff when i first joind here , will take a look through his journal over the weekend. Squats next , abit worried as i dont have a rack/cage.....might do them at the gym! takes the fun out of it though for me. I want it to rain , so i can train in that! love it , cold weather aswell.

AWG Your training methods are mental!! you gonna get an olympic bar and bench soon? is joining a gym still out of the question? Yes mate , want a full set of proper weights.....just never get round to it.....did have 300kg worth of plates but got rid. Want a cage , but i like to look after everything i have , so will just get a tatty one from ebay or something and weatherproof it as i just would hate to do that to a brand new one lol Joined a few gyms , always end up leaving though as they dont like how i train....one especially turned his nose up at me , which pi'ssed me off. Abit of a snobby place , so i should have expected it really. Joined one recently that has an excellent olympic set up and cage , everything i need. Will start going there to do squats and a little extra to build up my deads etc etc get on with the trainer good aswell , should hopefully be working there abit when i have my gym/trainer quals.

Ah sounds good....I find training at a gym much more motivational then training at home...allthough I never really tarined at home much apart from a few sessions in my mates garden. just having other guys around you lifting and in good shape helps keep me motivated. plus it boosts the ego when you look better and bigger then other people in the gym good luck

I couldnt go in the gym and do say 3 hours on the bike , but i could do that at home. To be honest , i do not really like people watching me train as i always get the same questions aswell "why do so much" , "whats the point" or they just look at me in a puzzled way if i have been there a few hours. I tend to like going when its not busy and i can use equipment as long as i want. To be honest and not big headed :-) , i am getting rather big and getting some quality results. So i like to stick to what i am doing as i know it works for me and i am happy. Spending too many days in a row at the gym , knocks me out of sync with my routines. I used to be quite big before the weight gain , had 16 inch arms....not sure how big they are at the moment , but i am going to go bigger than that. It's all trial and error and like i said , the error for me seems to be going to a gym. I was going to finish the garage conversion and make that a gym , but the lure of a 100inch home cinema is too much I will be getting a studio together once i am qualified aswell , so will get a decent olympic set up/cage then

what your looking to do is perfect for overall health / fitness with a nice dollop of strength for good measure !! have a look here ( my skydrive) couple of good timers - tabata and a couple i made , great for some HIIT - dumbell swings or snatches or even powercleans ... i have an EXCELLENT vid on 'starting strength training' with very good instruction on deads/bench/military press/squat and powerclean ...

Dead lift DOMS are finanlly gone , just abit still for the bench pressing but nothing compared to the deadlift ones. Not sure what i am doing exercise wise today , just going to take my whey and caffeine and wait for it to kick in. May do some military press or squats or maybe even both. Going to have a good session today as i have the house/garden to myself. Day five Standing military press , only tried this once at a gym when i went through a whole body work out with the instructor. Taken off floor in a deadlift motion , then up to chest. Once finished , back down from chest to waist in deadlift motion. 25 @ 20kg 20 @ 20kg 15 @ 20kg 15 @ 20kg 10 @ 20kg 10 @ 25kg 10 @ 25 kg 9 @ 25kg 10 @ 25kg 5 @ 30kg 5 @ 30kg 5 @ 30kg 5 @ 30kg 5 @ 35kg 5 @ 35kg 5 @ 35kg 5 @ 35kg 5 @ 35kg 3 @ 40kg - Tougher but could of squeezed out more , dont want to push it too much 3 @ 40kg - Couldnt of got the fourth on that one 5 @ 40kg - Note to self - " DONT DOUBT MYSELF" 3 @ 45kg - Failed on the 4th , half way up. 4 @ 45kg - Better , fuc'king pump pump pump 5 @ 45kg - Like it 2 @ 50kg - failed on 3rd half way up 2 @ 50kg - Doubted myself on the 3rd...haha 2 @ 50kg - failed 3 quaters of the way up - may have found my limit - will up weight 3 @ 55kg - Liked that! 2 @ 55kg - That was a push. 1 @ 55kg - Didnt want to push anymore out , up the weight - last up in think. 0 @ 60kg - Got from floor to chest and really didnt feel confident pushing up from there. DEFEATED! 204 military presses , well impressed to be honest as only done once before and was not expecting to get near 50kg. Actually going to pat myself on the back for once! T shirt is stuck to me and i am saturated in sweat <<<<<<< Fantastic , great feeling! Run 5 mile run , road running.

Your training is immense mate. No surprise at you failing on the heavier military press weights after all that volume. I'm by no means an expert - quite the opposite in fact, but would it be worth going for the heavier weights after a warmup and pyramidding (speeling?) down again?
"bring me an ambalamps" - mouthy dude after getting his arse handed to him

Yeah i did that with the deads the other day and went all the way up with bench press and then back down again , trying a few different ways to be honest. Will just see how things go.

Nice journal you got here. Nice to see that you are having fun which is what its all about. You got bored of the gym changed to something else and loving it! You should try the 300 workout sounds like the kinda of workout your looking for. and get on those squats mister. I know what you mean though as I train at home and dont have a spotter. But if your in your garden the worst that could happen is you drop the bar on the grass.

Have to say without a rack or some form of safety equipment i'd never attempt back squats, risk for potential injury is high IMO. Cleans, hack squats even front squats to an extent I'd do, but not back squats.

Good stuff Around 41 mins i think , i didnt run all of it either.....run , jog , walk , run, jog, walk etc etc last time i done 5 miles i nailed it in 58 mins , so a good bit of time shifted.

Even DOMS i hate , so the thought of a proper injury is a no go for me. will take a look at this 300 workout you are talking about
