Decided to change the cutting plan and lower the carbs quite drastically. The fat is not coming off as quickly as it should be for my calorie intake and cardio output. I truly believe the reason for this is that my carbs are too high for my body (it hates them!). I was bulking on less carbs than this FFS! Please no one tell me "Your carbs are too low", "You need more pre-WO carbs" etc. I know my own body and I'm trying this. It will be very similar to my bulking diet, only with more lean protein and more cardio (and less calories obviously). I'll be adding fatty meat and fish to my cutting diet, which I wasn't before. IMO high fat is the way forward. Diet for Monday will be 09:00 50g oats 3 whole eggs 400cal 11:00 160g turkey Salad 20 almonds 300cal 16:00 40g protein blend 10g olive oil 260cal 17:30 100g chicken 40g PB 360cal 21:30 50g oats 3 whole eggs 400cal 00:00 150g Lean steak/ minced beef/ fatty fish Salad/ broccoli 350cal Total = 2070cal, 70g carbs

WHy the drastic change, where does that leave you with room to manoeuvre once the going gets tough?

ORIGINAL: theiopener WHy the drastic change, where does that leave you with room to manoeuvre once the going gets tough? I increase the cardio and/ or lower the cals. I was bulking on around 80g carbs before and doing very well. I love high fat dieting and react very well to it. I actually increased carbs to start cutting, but progress has been a tad slower than I'd like. I was having to do 60 mins cardio with 2000cal intake to see any progress. I'm not prepared to lower them any more, so I'm switching to high fat and staying with it. I know it will work for me So basically, cardio will be increased and fats and protein will be lowered if I plateau. I only want to get to around 12%, so I doubt that will even happen. I can see my abs already .

Well exited about going back to high fat!!!!!!!!! I love eating like this and get very good results from doing so. I feel a bit tired, but once I've fully adapted all will be fine

Hi Al, How are things going? I hope you don't mind me asking, but were you in a bad mood last night? ...it's just I saw some of your posts on various threads were a bit cutting and abrupt - not your usual style my friend. I hope all is well

ORIGINAL: RedHotF Hi Al, How are things going? I hope you don't mind me asking, but were you in a bad mood last night? ...it's just I saw some of your posts on various threads were a bit cutting and abrupt - not your usual style my friend. I hope all is well Thought you might have noticed that Fi. Apologies, I had just had a very long day and had dropped my carbs to a very low level (waiting to become fat adapted again) so was being a bit short tempered, and unnecessarily so I might add. Whenever carbs are low (and I'm not fat adapted) I get a bit like that, but I'll make sure to refrain from posting if I'm ever feeling a bit abrasive in future Things are going well. I've realised that the only real way forward for me is to follow a high fat diet, and it will be my first proper high-fat cutting day today. Went to the gym yesterday (leg day), did my leg session and was so drained that I couldn't do my cardio. I'll make sure that I do it today, but my energy levels are very low after the sudden drop in carbs. Everyone seems to have a carb fixation and eats them with every meal. I have tried that and it didn't work. I bulked on around 100g carbs a day and did very well. I then RAISED my carbs to 150g a day to begin cutting. This was so that I could taper them down, but after a bit of experimentation I've realised that I'm only going to make amazing progress by dropping the carbs and upping the fats. I've lost a bit of fat, but I was having to drop my cals to 2000 a day and do 60 mins cardio to lose anywhere near a pound a week, which for a man of 190lb is ridiculous! My body hates carbs, and I've even gone off them now. The only carb source I really enjoyed was oats, and I still get to eat them once/ twice a day, depending on whether I'm training or not. With high fat diets you can take in so much more than you would with high carbs and still not gain any fat. I'm going to start with 2500cals (45mins cardio a day, 4/5 training sessions a week) and work my way down is necessary. I get to eat all my favourite foods: nuts, peanut butter, beef, chicken wings, eggs, cheese, tuna with full fat mayo, even cream. When I was cutting with higher carbs 3 of my 5 meals a day consisted of turkey salad . This way of dieting was recommended to me by Justicar a while ago and I have to say that it was such an amazing revelation. So many people have such a carb fixation, but many of us have bodies who cannot handle carbs and eating them in any moderate amount will always lead to fat gain. I know what I have to do and am very excited now! Give it a week and I'll be looking leaner already (and have my energy back) I take it you're carb sensitive Al?? Hey Rack I thought so too, but according to Nigeepoo the correct term is "carb insensitive" for someone who cannot handle carbs. Carb sensitive people can handle carbs very well P.S. Hope you had a good time in L'pool mate . I saw your pictures. Truly amazing city isn't it?

Good stuff, glad all is well. I don't eat many carbs really, they don't suit me - it is as simple as that. Like you, I know my own body. I very very rarely eat rice or pasta. Don't eat potatoes often at all. I do love bread, but I need to be careful with it. I keep my carb intake quite low really and that suits me

(I wrote a reply full of spontaneous wit, but it froze as I sent it. Below is my botched attempt at recreating what I wrote) Exactly, it took the first couple of weeks of my cut to realise that my body is never going to be a fan of carbohydrates. I was only bulking on around 150g before: 100g oats for brekkie, 50-60g dextrose PWO and a large potato PPWO. I barely gained any fat whilst doing this; I leaned out if anything. I'm not eating dairy for the remainder of this cut as a) it has the simple dairy sugars, which I don't want when I'm trying to keep the carbs low and b) I'm lactose intolerant and even when I take my lactase enzymes I get problems. I fooking love cottage cheese and quark though, but will have to do without them for now. I'm not crazy about the idea of humans eating dairy TBH, but I still do it High fat is defo the way forward for me, and if anyone asks me why I'm eating an entire can of squirty cream straight from the can, I can reply "It's OK, I'm cutting" P.S. How's project Turkey coming along? I take it you're looking even more beautiful now?

Project Turkey is coming along nicely. I've not been anywhere near the scales (hate them) and don't intend to for at least another month or so. There are definite changes going on though, I can tell by the way my clothes are fitting me, getting noticeably looser now

Diet was going to plan until I got home and had extremely painful hunger pains! I don't know if anyone's experienced these, but they are so painful and make you think you will die if you don't eat something. In hindsight I'm pretty sure that it was my body wanting some carbs, but I the time I just thought I hadn't eaten enough, so I had about 80g turkey, 50g peanut butter and some broccoli. Didn't mean too, but this was some serious pain. I haven't had one of these for ages. The last time was when I dropped my carbs months ago, so that is obviously what it was. In future I will just bear the pain and wait for it to pass. Until my body fully adapts it will be craving carbs, so I will just have to ride it out until it starts to get better. I have no trouble at all with sticking to my diet, but this feeling is something else; it's absolutely agonizing!!! I'll be fine now i know what to do when it happens though Off to do cardio now

Updating again Diet yesterday was: 10:00 3 eggs 50g cheese 14:00 40g protein blend 15g olive oil 17:00 150g broccoli 2 pork loin steaks 21:30 300-400g beef mince Plan for today is: 09:40 Cardio - 20 mins 10:00 3 eggs 50g cheese 400cal 14:00 40g protein blend 15g oil 320cal 16:00 1.5 tins tuna Full fat mayo Salad 400cal 19:00 Same as 14:00 meal 320cal 21:00 150g broccoli 2 pork loin steaks 400cal 23:30 3-4 homemade burgers 600cal Total = around 2450 Haven't been able to train much in the last week due to working like a beast and various other unavoidable situations. However, now everything has settled down I'll be making sure to train hard and heavy 3x a week now. Can't do so today, but will be training like a demon over the next three days. Need to deplete these glycogen stores (had a huge carb up on Saturday). I am now fully fat adapted, but will try and fix my carb up so I can train the next day (should be a very intense workout with all the stored glycogen). The cut was on hiatus for a couple of weeks whilst I got fully fat adapted, but now I'm back to cutting again and will do so using this method until I'm lean.
