I still remember my very first time in a gym... and it was never as terrifying as i assumed.
As a 16 year old I was definatly smaller than you are in those photos.. and the gym i chose to go to was the closest to home for ease: a charming place called gym n tonic.
I soon learned that it was a big gear gym, and most of the guys in there were huge. I was very intimidated but stuck with it and found everyone to be really friendly. I soon found new friends in the gym as we shared common goals and most of those guys i still see today.
Moral of the story: get started! It matters little what you do in the beginning as your body will have much to adapt to anyway.
Get Started-Stick with it!

Firstly don't worry about how you look in the gym.  Anyone whose opinion counts should be too busy with their own training to worry about you.  Those sort of worries will quickly pass when you step foot in there, and dumping them will help you get on with the job at hand of getting stacked.

Secondly you seem to have a good plan for your workout.  Compound movements done with really good form (FlexMus's recomendation of exrx is great) will stimulate your muscles to grow nicely.  Start off with a weight which you are in total control of, and gradually build it up - small increments, step by step, and before you know it, you will be shifting some heavier weights.

Thirdly, lighter guys can sometimes need a heck of a lot of food.  I would not worry about eating too clean at the moment (although chips, crisps and coke are not really food let alone clean IMO).  Most importantly eat often, and then make sure you are getting plenty of protein and carbs in for each meal.  Do not skimp on the fats either.  It is really worth keeping a record of what and how much you eat, along with the change in your bodyweight.  This will allow you work out what you need to hold your current weight, and then you can work out what you need to do to get the kilos to go up when you jump on the scales.  If you find yourself getting full easily cut back on the amount of fats and eat more carbs and protein.  Shakes are very good for getting protein intake up IMO.

Forthly, make sure you get plenty of rest.  Good nights sleep and little naps in the day if you feel tired and have a free half hour or so.  Growing without sleep is tough.

As I said on the first point, don't worry about what people think.  If you are annoyed about how people are treating you, channel that anger into your training.  Put up with the crap, whilst you continue to build yourself.  There is something extremely satisfying when the people around you just keep seeing you growing bigger and bigger, whilst you quietly bide your time.

Key thing IMO is have a planned routine and record your sessions. I write my reps on a post-it then stick em in Excel.

Helps you know what you've been doing and what you 'should' be aiming for each session e.g. monitor progress rather than stagnating.

i started out just as skinny and now im 6' 3" and 240 pounds, people dont tend to comment much anymore. dont worry about the gym, generally everyone there is there because they arent happy with some part of their body (thats why im there anyway), so no one will comment or say anything ****ty to you. go to the gym, try it out, youll enjojy yourself. if you dont know how to do something, just ask somone. youll find loads of people at the gym willing tohelp you out and spot you, youll be surprised at how fast you pick things up, literally .

I felt exactly the same as you when I joined this forum, 6ft tall and 10st exactly.  Had been that weight for years and figured it would never change.

I followed the training that the guys put together for me, at home as I don't use a gym.

I find it hard to eat a lot of food but just tried to up everything and get used to it.  Instead of putting together a naff lunch at work, I'd bulk make and freeze pasta and sauce with chicken for every day, couple of minutes in the microwave and it's done.

I worked hard and consistently for 16 weeks before stopping due to back trouble that I have, but at the end, I was 11st7lbs.

I've just returned to it now after five months break.  If you do a journal we can track each others progress and share experience, it's great for motivation :-)

I am glad I read through this thread, to the OP....M8 you shouldnt take what people say to heart, I know thats a hard thing not to do but keep focused on the fact you will get bigger as long as you eat big and train right. When I started training at 16 I was about your build, 6ft 1 and around 10 stone (I now weigh in at around 19 ish) and I started training for the same reasons everyone called me stick man, twiggy, bones etc I started training with rocks in the garden (curls, presses) then saved up enough and bought a bench and 50kg of weights, I made good progress until I got into the gym and then thats when I really began to grow, not because of the different machines but because of "good advice" from the really bigger fellas that trained in the gym. In 90% of cases any built guy in the gym if approached about diet, training, etc will only gladly help (sure there are some ignorant no marks but thats life).
Try asking a few guys for routine and diet help and most of them will be glad too as they were probably in the same situation as yourself back in the day. I know I was.

            Good Luck.

PS. The best mass builder when I was younger for me was squats and milk, drink the milk till it comes out your ears and squat till the cows come home, you will soon start to put the weight on.
