Aye, that's for sure! No hard feelings eh? You mentioned you have a bad back in another thread? Maybe that's the reason you stop short?

Yeah maybe a mental block due to worry about back popping
Everyone has been in shape, but not everyone is IN shape, its about where your going not where you have been.

Its not the back, it seems as though my gut, that's what i was going on about my 'Soul' it actually feels as thought the pit of my stomach has had enough, mentally I want tear the up up to the ceiling, its possibly psychological to some degree. Its something as this thread has proved is something I cant quite explain properly. Is it just fitness, maybe it is my core although I've worked on this. Maybe the best advice is just squat and stop talking about souls! On reflection I think I should have worded the question a little differently.

I am not a good squater (and it really doesn't help having to do it in a Smith imo) Not sure about my soul, but my 'will' fails before my lungs and legs. Squats are the most exhausting exercise (again imo) and I almost can't bring myself to go as heavy as I know I can. I am going to give volume a go over weight for about a month, then try and come back with the weight. Another disadvantage I think I have is not having a tremendous amount of stamina, with a cut coming up (lots of HIIT cardio) I am looking forward to seeing what I can bring later on. I don't know if what I said resonates with you, but I do fail before legs and lungs

Max singles on squats are easier than reps IMO. I'm glad we got the Pete issue sorted , he's is a genuine authority on squatting and a very nice chap too.
No biggie like, there are a lot worse things for you than using steroids, I mean I probably shouldn't have been smoking crack or getting into bar fights at your age TBH - drab4
