Soul Pain Sqautting
07 March 2010 15:19
( permalink)
I don't know if I'm on my own own on this one (I'm sure you'll tell me!) When I squat a really good set my soul gives up before my quads or lungs do. It's like a painful 'soul nausea' by soul I mean that deep deep place in the pit of my stomach. I'm not talking of a weak core or anything. I mean that place that butterflies come from just says stop doing this when the muscles and lungs can still go a couple more reps. Am I mad? I don't suffer from a lack of aggression, on other exercises I'm an animal. Do you guys know what I'm going on about?

"butterflies" are linked to adrenaline, so maybe its something to do with that?

Lack of conditioning. Take the weight down, do 6 sets of 20 reps with 2 minute rests between sets. Bring the rests down to 45 seconds between sets. Increase weight again. If you train more frequently you also don't decondition between sessions as quickly. If you only ran once a week it would like be a significant undertaking everytime you did it, if you ran 3x a week it would become easier as your body adjusts and improves to the training stimuli.

Not necessarily. I could run once a week and see significant improvements each week and I have done so. Perhaps it differs for others.

A bit of a basic utterance mate, but then we are all entitled to our own opinions. I'm not quite a pussy, not since I last looked anyway. Basically the question is there is an underlying problem with my squatting that has nothing to do with muscle failure, aggression or lung air capacity. There seems to be failure somewhere I cant put my finger on, possibly conditioning? Thanks sillynarbie for the non offensive answer. I would have expected senior members to offer more than very basic insults. If you feel my comment was silly or you doubt my integrity, why insult me or waste your time stopping here? Yes I realise the question was put in an unusual way, but then that's how I want to express myself non offensively. Having said that most guys on here seem very genuine!
