Well, I felt strong today, the form felt good but I failed my reps.

30th September 2014
Week 2. Day 2. Upper body: Fail.

Paused bench
  • Warm ups: Bar x 10, 5; 60 x 5; 3; 90 x 5; 110 x 1
  • Working sets: 115 x 10; 125 x 8; 130 x 5
And that's a fail, apparently! I was expected to get 130 x 6-8, but jesus that was a lot of work before hand. Will carry on regardless

70degreepowerrowshrugs
  • Warm ups: 60 x 5; 110 x 5; 140 x 4
  • Working sets: 160  x 10, 10, 10
Military press
  • Working sets: 60 x 5; 70 x 5; 80 x 3 (no more in the tank!); 85 x 2 (no more in the tank!) 60 x 10

Squats:
  • Sets: Bar x 10; 60 x 10; Doubles: 60-120.
Mid grip pull ups:
  • BW x 15, 12, 8
Rotator cuffs and stretching

Squats felt pretty rough again, with loads of butt wink, hence stopping at 120. Had a good stretch after and my hips were really tight. Last week I did a lot more pre-workout stretching, and rolling midweek. Bottom line: I have to keep stretching and rolling at all times. But, my god, it's so boring, painful and takes so long to do. This stuff takes up your life enough as it is. It's amazing how much work I have to do to be a very average lifter.

Will roll myself to buggary and then see what happens on Thursday. Hardest day of the programme, too. Not sure what to do. I can't follow it as I'm away next week anyway. Will have a play, probably.

PreWO mobility would be key I think rather than extra work in the week on mobility.

That is a lot of work before your top set, more rest between sets required maybe? Was the 5th a bit of a grind?

Agreed with the preWO mobility. Had a few workout with very little and felt great. Guess I got lucky :(

5th rep was very slow, but a solid lift. I didn't trust the spotter for the 6th, which I'm 90% certain would have failed. I gave myself a lot of time between sets, but 115 x 10 and 125 x 8 is a lot of reps! I'll stick with it, though, and not drop the weight, although I'm expected to get 135 x 4-6 for three reps next week. I think I'll make that...just.

Yeah, was feeling great. It's just a LOT of weight for a lot of reps. Remember 130 x 7 was a PB for me, and I had to land this +/- 1 after 125 x 8 (technically a PB), and 115 x 10 (technically a PB).

Yeah, that's a wake up call I guess. I was even caught out by high rep fatigue today, maybe it was in the air
