Nice session mate, all joking aside have you considered using one of those good girl/bad girl machines, the bad girl one could help with tracking those knees outwards.

SQUAT -  190kg - AIM 200KG then 227.5kg
BENCH - 142.5KG - AIM 145KG then 155kg
DEADLIFT - 285KG - AIM 300KG then 317.5kg
BW - 93KG

Those single leg squats might be useful for the knee, what with the stabilising etc ... I was going to ask if you had gone up yet, but I guess the use of 18kg DBs answers my question; them's is ladies DBs, men's go up in 2.5s or 5s

That explains why you haven't made it to the 15 kg dumbbells on the side lateral raises. A step too far.

Been doing them for a while.

Have written them in the workouts.

Including today's.

Squats with DBs is very worthwhile mate and after tramping up and down stairs all day as well. Even a non-squatter like me could attempt that. Well done bud.

Well I've got a shedload of glute soreness so they're obviously doing the trick and it's obviously a weakness.

Going to take today off and have a low intensity upper body workout tomorrow morning. I can 'feel' my shoulder and I'm hoping i haven't contracted the AIDZ from commenting on Wolfie's journal.

Got some of the worse ass DOMS I've ever had, and I did sweet f--- all work on them. Weakness identified.

I'll add the single leg squats to leg day (with bells) and to back day (no bells).

Just a medium intensity workout on the upper body. Feeling generally fatigued, so the weekend's rest should sort me out. Shoulder felt a bit dodgy on the lower weights but got better towards the heavier stuff. Just a bit of SARS, not AIDZ. I'll probably take it easy on Monday's pressing session, just to make sure.

28th February 2015
  • Paused bench: 5s: 60, 70, 100, 110, 120, 130, 100 x 10reps
  • Side lateral raises: 18kgs x 20, 15, 12
  • Lat pull down: 4 x 8-12 reps
  • Preacher machine: 4 x 8-12 reps
  • Triceps pushdown: 4 x 10-15 reps
  • Rotator cuffs, stretching and rolling agony.
Today. I brew.

Like the big 8-12 reps thing mate. You and DV have a similar method with those. I'll be trying out something like that today on tri's.
Hope the DOMS ease soon!

Agree with this.
Why don't you give them a go?

...
How about switching to paused reps on your bench too

Brew like a fine ale.

DOMS isn't necessarily highlighting a weakness, it's highlighting unfamiliarity with a movement. That said, big squatting generally requires big glutes so something that targets them a bit more than you seem to naturally may not be a bad idea

Far from it, buddy! The Vest bangs these out with very short breaks and lots of weight and big intensity. I tend to use these as accessories, not very intense at all. I tend to do most of my work at the 3-5 rep range with as heavy as I can manage. I've found this leads to the most strength and size gains for my natty frame.
