Starting routine for the GF
19 November 2009 22:05

Hey guys ,the GF has been doing great with her CV routine and diet and has shed 12Ib's in 7weeks and now shes taking a interest in the weights side of things which I definately encourage ,she's just starting so I was going to use machines for awhile? ,should I look for a specific ladies routine as I see many girls in the gym doing many weird and wonderful iso exercise's or should I just do a variation of my own BBin routine? I know diet dictates final outcome ,aiming for a fitness physique look. Thanks

Just a variation of your own stuff. I recommend that you start off with a full body circuit with on exercise for chest, shoulders, back, calves, quads, hams, bi's and tris with a 8-12 rep range x 3. Keep it as a circuit so from one machine to the next to the next and work up to doing the circuit 3 times. Do that for a couple of weeks and then do another routine but more based around free weights. Stay away from complex compounds for now like deads and squats as they are technical lifts that do require good basic coordination to do correctly and safely. Do this again for another few weeks and then go to a convetnional 3 day split. The 2 full body routines will have taught your lass 2 exercises per bodypart so you will only have to add one more for a 3 day programm eg. Machine chest press (full body routine A), dumbell press (full body routine b) and then add DB Flies on a chest and arms day. Does that make sense?

Have to agree with what Tan states.....and do not allow your GF to get into the 'machine rut' but over a period of weeks encourage her to use the free weights and to not be afraid of lifting heavier weights as she progresses. She will not become Iris Kyle.....
