Staying in 13 March 2010 19:50 (permalink)
Has the internet made you more inclinded to staying in, particuarly at weekends?

Over the years I have gone out less and less. Part of this can be attricuted to gettin a bit older but I'm sure the net has made me less bothered about not going out. I still don't mind goingout with my pals but am not to bothered if I have to spend the night in front of tv & pc. Anyone else like this?

No, I hate staying in and being stuck on the net all night, I always feel like I'm missing out on something.

I agree with the top two posts, sometimes I feel i'm missing out but then just think of all the cash i'm saving and how much good it's doing not drinking as much.

I find I end up having a better night if I don't go out as often too.

I'm tonight but gonna av a great weekend next week, think you appreciate it more if you have a lay off but as long as it's not more than 2 or 3 weekends...probably change the older I get as I'll feel older than everyone else.

I was out last night with some mates I hadn't seen in a while. It seemed so much work! Lovely conversation but the rammed bars, rip off proces and music not to my tastes spoilt it a bit.

Several times I thought I'd much rather be at home with a few cans.

Why does "out" always mean going somewhere to consume copious amounts of alcohol?

Try organisng a poker night at your place with a steady flow of drinks.

I enjoy staying in and going on the net - it can be very social - I play games online, go on forums, read up on things. I am 29 - when I was younger I always liked to be out however once I got a long term gf we mostly stay in with a film or do stuff around house. We still go out for meals, days out, films etc but I dont normally go down the pub or anything like that. I also am not keen on going out to town to look around shops on weekends.

I quite enjoy staying in sometimes, save alot of money and not surrounded by idiots drinking as much as they can in a short amount of time and say they can hold their drink as they try and fight their reflection in a shop window.

The internet brings a connection with the outside world from the comfort of your own home , its fun sometimes chatting to friends from around the globe or having a game. I don't see it as a bad thing. Plus its a godsend around xmas time, no more xmas mad shopping people to avoid

Going out on the weekend for me normally involves either getting pissed or spending alot of money (Or both) Which im quite happy to save at the min.

I think to Some extent yes the internet has, I mean it may sound sad to some people but in a way its another form of Solicalizing[SP] Without going out ya know?

For me i only 24 but did the pub club scene when i was 16-20 and TBH im bored of it now esp as i dont drink any more, I dont mind going out if its bowling, for meal, Cinema, round a mates/family or some thing like that.

Other than that im happy to chill in with a game/film/tv/net and/or chat with my flat mates. Normaly once a week have a Treat (junk food) And a bit of green , nice relaxing night :-)

Yes it does make it easier to stay in although Saturday night TV is terrible so its mainly playing xbox or pc if I stay in and my GF is working.

When I go out I have a great time but I spend most of the rest of the weekend with a ****ty hangover.  If I stay in, I dont have a great time but the rest of the weekend is productive/enjoyable so its a catch 22 situation for me!
