Struggling to lose weight

Hi all, Been trying to lose a little weight for couple of months, but am really struggling. A little case history - have been watching my weight for a couple of years, having lost six stone 3 years ago. Have been weight training and cardio in the past to maintain weight to great effect. When I do ease off, I do add a few pounds. Since christmas I have been concentrating on running as have a couple of half marathons coming up and looking to do a couple of short course triathlons too this summer. I keep a watch on what I eat plenty of protien from a mixed source, small amounts of complex carbs (ie brown rice) but plenty of green veg. If I eat to much of brown rice, bread, pasta or oats, I put weight on very quickly. Problem is I am getting so hungry that I sometimes snack on what ever I can lay my hands on from fruit to biscuits etc. Currently running first thing unfuelled (runs from 35 mins to 80 mins at 8min mile pace). Breakfast is protien shake with banana, 20gms of oats and 200ml of skimmed milk (straight after run), hour later 2 eggs and toast. Mid morning - handful of brazil and almond nuts and an apple, lunch - chicken breast, plenty of mixed veg and a little rice, mid afternoon nuts and fruit, and tea - half a tin of tuna, 100gms of cottage cheese, salad and small serving of sugar free jelly. (on lunch and tea I add a spoon of exv olive oil and breakfast have fish oil cap. On my days off I will also fit in a 45min swim before lunch. I am 42years of age and weigh 95kgs. Anyone have any ideas Armie

hi, Are you sure this is all you are eating? Are there any extra treats or alcohol? Hard to gauge your exact cal intake because quantities are not mentioned, however if weight loss is your goal and your weight is constant your input roughly equals your output. Essentially you have three options, increase cardio, decrease cal consumption or both. Also as above, is there any resistance training?

I'm not doing any weights at the moment. (understand that building muscle burns fat) Do have a multigym in the garage, but has been to cold of late to get in there will be taking it up again in the next few weeks as first half marathon is in nine days time and after that will dedicate some time to weights. Yes JKD there are to odd few snacks (four or five bisuits) on the days I'm not working due to hunger/ relaxing. I do have a drink or two, never beer just a glass or two of wine couple of times a week. In the mirror there is a slight noticable difference, but to showing on the scales. Would have thought with the amount of running (over 35 miles aweek) even a water loss would have shown up.

ok, i would get your 1/2 marathons out of the way first mate. training for fat loss and performance at the same time is going to be hard to pull off, and make the marathon training a bit of a ball ache (especially if you are on reduced cals etc). Once they are out of the way get on the weights and tackle the diet at the same time.
