All round, i think he is the best driver right now.

too close to call i think, alonso, hamilton, button, massa, vettel, and even rubens and webber are all capable.
 
i think that if anyone of them has a car that they get really in touch with then they will be contenders.
 
As much as i hate to say it, i do think hamilton is the best driver on the grid IF hes doing ok and has a good car, he isnt well rounded enough yet though. 
 
who knows, even kubica in a good car can have very good moments!

Im expecting a 3 way title between Hamilton, Schumacher and Alonso (finishing in that order too)

I CANT see Schumacher NOT challenging! Otherwise why come back. German driver in a well funded German team, linking Schumacher with Ross Brawn again. It has sucsess wrote all over it imo.

If Sauber have as much of a tyre advantage is being made out, a punt on a race win by Kobayashi just might be on the cards.

but he will not have a rear gunner like rubens was in rosberg.  they very much have a main driver and an also ran IMO.  where in schumachers day they had rubens taking points off other drivers, helping schumacher win, and on occasion giving places up to him.  he wouldnt have the 7 titles if ferrari had let them run fair.  rubens made big sacrifices for schumacher.

If i could choose who won, it would be rubens, he has such passion, such emotion, has been robbed of his best chances of a title by ferrari (see above)  and i just really like him.

but its probably unlikely.  so im still gunning for button, with hamilton as a reserve as id like a brit to take it

Re: Schumi. Come backs rarely work. The only blessing he may have is comebacks often blight an exceptional career. His has always had a hint of controversy so maybe a comeback will truely mark him out as a genuine great

Very interesting and we will see how it unfolds in a few races.

going to be routing for button, i did name my 4 month old son after him so i've got to really!

but as dazc said, rubens seems such a nice guy and has sacrificed a lot in the ferrari years, i'd love to see him lifting the championship trophy. it would be amazing infact.

Can't wait.  I love Schumi, cheating an all.

Unfortunately I think Button will be shown up by Hamilton, who I think is the fastest ,in race, driver but would agree that Alonso is a more complete package.

I like a flutter for the whole season but want some good odds so I'll try and do a triple with Kobayashi getting more than one podium, Schumi finishing the season in the top three and Hamilton beating Button.  Should get some odds on that for a ten pound punt.

didn't see that chart...looks like the british and german drivers are very close already. I do think the german drivers are better racers though.

Hmm, Hamilton not that much faster than Button, but Massa quite a bit faster than Alonso..

Still, Friday practice is pretty meaningless...

we dont know how much fuel they were carrying, and there will be lots of tweaks still to come!

does anyone know what fuel they will run during qualifying?  is it full tanks to make the  race distance, or small amounts then fill before the race?

Isn't qualifying the same deal as last year, 1st 2 low, last one raced up. I'm sure there are still 3 rounds and it wouldn't make sense to have them all at the same fuel level as there'd be no change after the 1st round....??

Just sat down to watch practice now, sooooo good to have f1 back in my life!

just hearing about the mclaren flap that they have come up with!  interesting to see that they have thought of something no one else has!   Seems maybe after the diffuser thing last year they went looking for something to give them an advantage!

Qualifying is all low fuel runs.
