Egg white is 100% bio-available which means that none of the amino acids are wasted. It provides the only source of protein which is instantly absorbed by the body. Other high protein foods, such as meat and fish, must first be broken down before the body can absorb the available protein. The same applies to protein powders and other meal replacements. Even powdered egg white and protein powders, in general, only support muscle growth for 2 to 3 hours. By contrast, liquid egg white supports muscle growth for up to 4 to 5 hours, making it an excellent means of losing weight and toning muscle fibre.
In addition, the human body cannot completely and safely digest raw egg white; avidin, an enzyme found in raw egg, blocks the uptake of Vitamin B6 (Biotin) causing an unhealthy vitamin deficiency. To avoid this you must cook the egg white to neutralise the avidin in order to allow your body to safely digest the protein. However, when you cook an egg white to the point of scrambled eggs, you begin to destroy the true value of the protein, thus making it less effective.
Two chicks free range liquid egg white is lightly pasteurised. This neutralises the avidin enzyme without damaging the protein which allows the egg white to be digested safely by the human body. The pasteurisation also guarantees that it is salmonella free, making it totally safe to use in recipes that require the egg white to be uncooked.

The winning recipe by Indie: Lemon mousse delight, protein shake
- One scoop of unflavoured protein powder
- Half a pint of milk
- 150grams of liquid egg white (whipped to soft peaks for mousse like texture)
- Lemon flavoured yoghurt or 2/3 spoons of lemon curd or both! (Substitute for a different fruit flavoured yoghurt according to preference. Greek yoghurt will give creamy texture and is usually fat free)
- Half a banana, for texture and extra sweetness
As usual with any protein shake, change ingredient amounts according to preference, ie 2 scoops of powder, or more milk for a thinner shake etc
During a bulk phase I will personally add a 1 or two crushed/powdered wholemeal digestive biscuits, which gives the shake an overall lemon cheescake quality.
