Have I mis-read... it's says he's on the shortlist, I don't see anything confirming an invite tho

They said that he was competing with an injury and that he didnt tell them when asked....or is that BS from them?

yes he was competing whilst injured this is what Terry's response was to Terry Todds note on the Arnold blog

Part of the reason I got injured last year was cause I did the fitexpo so had to rush my training with very little time to prep, also I had been overlooked so many times in the past I felt if I didn't try I would get knocked back again for future comps! All other international promoters say if your ticket is bought and hotel is booked turn up and do your best, although I now know this is not Dr Todd's stance. I pulled out the Arnolds in 2008 with a very severe kidney infection and got overlooked for the next 3 years so honestly thought I was doing the right thing! It's a shame that all this has happened and being left out cause of an injury sucks bigtime (I only sustained a compete rupture of the longhead tendon 11 days before the arnold so was very close to the comp). Obviously I now know that this was the wrong decision to make in their eyes but genuinely thought I was doing the right thing!

Although last year i was not at my best at the Arnolds I believe the way I came back proved that it was just bad luck getting the injury at such a bad time!  

Got there in the end! Now just time to go prove a point!

Why do you think they havent invited you before Terry?

Having read that statement Terry Todds sounds like something of a jackass. I may be wrong, but the tone is pretty confrontational. Sounds like a child, like everyone else is clearly wrong and it's impossible for him to make errors. Not very grown-up and open minded.
 
As for his justifications he should just come clean and not try to pull the wool. I'd have more respect. My suspicions are that as an entertainment spectacle he wants to have people he can announce as '6 Time Russian Heavyweight Weightlifting Champion' and 'Deadlift World Record Holder' than a more capable strongman who would be a harder sell to the general public in terms of legitimacy, but much less so to actual fans.
 
As for Thor, to me it's clear he's a draw as he's such a total freak. Sorry Terry, you're too small for the freak vote!!

After speaking to Terry about this Im convinced his success in WSM is down to the amount of lasagne he eats.
 
As an aside,is Thor actually any good at anything other than looking freaky? I genuinely dont know.

As for the decision not to invite him, daft when he beat Derek Poundstone by a big margin and Loz too? IMO WSM should be THE indicator for the Arnold not how freaky someones looks are/ famous for a particular bodypart! or even how they did a year ago in the same comp...

I don't think there's any doubt Thor's world class but defo not up to Terry's pedigree yet?!
 
I thought the deal with the Arnold (Correct me if I'm wrong) was that it was heavier and less cardio/mobility based than WSM traditionally, hence Big Z excelled over Marius in effect? If I am correct then this year WSM was immensely heavy and therefore must be a fantastic barometer for the Arnold invites now and therefore the only reason Loz and Tel aren't absolute nailed-on invites is politics and popularity/marketability in the states?

Glad to see you are getting the recognition you deserve. Looks like they have finally taken their heads out of the sand and realized you are 1 of the top 3 strongmen in the world.
