well that's the great thing about this really...some are good at some things where others aren't as strong and vice versa. We all then have something to aim to beat

no mate, I will be about last in the pull ups and near bottom at press ups.

I've always had an issue with pull ups and looking at the press ups (such as your own) I may add another 3/4 but I'll never do 50 in a minute

it really comes down to yor goals bruss

when i first joined MT i was a lean fairly well built dude.

i could do 72 pushup in a minute, now i have more size, roughly 25 pounds more i can only do 55. i would gladly trade another 17 pushup for another 25 pounds haha.

put me down for a grand total of 10 pull ups before my shoulder impinged and i had to sit down and cry for 10 minutes

i have no problem being bottom i maybe would have got 14-16 without the dodgy delt but put me down for 10

My plank virginity is lost
...2min25seconds

Also had a bash at the pressups and managed 44 in the minute.
(A bit disappointing given I distinctly remember doing 45 in 30seconds at age 11 in vain attempt to impress s3xpot/gymnast Suzanne Dando)

Any chance of adding powercleans for a minute as an exercise ? Would suggest 60kg and adjust for bodyweight/proficiency?

can we have some fat people so i am not bottom on the pull ups???

i'm really disappointed with it

i was going to try the 3 mile run tonight but i did half of it in a car and thought better of it i'll stick to my 1.5 mile one

i'll try the plank holds as well later on, and possibly the burpees

Could go for some power challenges like standing long jump and standing high job etc.
Or something different like cliff hangers - hanging on to a pull up for as long as possible = nice burn in forearms

Or if anyone's got it, the sit up bleep test is pretty challenging

stand with your back to the wall, and hold in the squat position, hands on head for as long as possible in a PERFECT hold - give it a go

this is a surprising killer, not quite as surprising as tha tplank hold though

Ooooh yeah thats a burner!

i do it every other week for 3 sets to failure after squats
the other week i do dumbell lunges

this infact would be a good test of peoples quad strength maybe the good man boar could include it?

not a fan of handstands against a wall as the delts come into play which i mtrying to avoid at the moment, i also bump my head lol

Ok i think ive updated everyone

so what is on the shortlist for a 1 month trial (exercise of the month):

powercleans in 1 minute with 50/60% bodyweight
hanging off a bar
sitting against a wall thigh killer
sit up bleep (any links?)
standing long jump

im liking:

powercleans or hanging off a bar

but im open minded if we get overwhelming votes (i.e any !!)

Cheeezuz Crivens on a bicycle, you really did lose some weight. Good stuff.
I worked out that I would need to do 52kg for 65% of 80kg and find myself staggered to be carrying more pork than the boar. By non-oly plates I take it you mean that I am going to be loading smaller circumference 15's and thus having to heave from a lower start point? I've not really factored that in to be honest and may be tempted just to go to 60kg. Then again there is the tantalising thought that I might just beat your score on 52kg
I will report back later.

LOL, i was fairly pooped - i should have just put 'standard bar and plates' - so no nice rotating cuffs and a (slightly) lower start point

we could put my suggestion (the quad killer), the power cleans, and all the other weightlifting related ideas in power and stregth maybe and kee pthis to cardio related?

oh, jedi - I lost 27 kilos

well im inclined to agree , but powercleans in 1 minute have very little relation to the power type events - i was bellowing after the 1 minute, i do like the quad burner but mabie its a bit similar to the plank hold, however i am happy to bow down to the most popular choice OR even include them both

i got to 10 seconds and my back, shoulders and abs were killing me, i wont post my score until i have bettered it (it was more then 10 seconds though)

This is great! I've only just seen it.

The only thing i can enter is the 2k ergo.

However....

Without wanting to be a spoil sport, kill joy, party pooper have you thought about using the 2000m handicapping which takes into account body weight, us lighties are at a big disadvantage (or perhaps having a lightweight category <75kg )

you can just enter the details here and get the reading

http://www.concept2.co.uk/racing/correction.php

anyway

when i was 59kg i pulled a 7:13.5 on the ergo.

corrected taking weight into account this is 6.48.3

Its safe to say i could not manage anything like this anymore

if not tell me to fcuk off, lol.

Also if you do decide to add a 10k to the list im at 43mins (i dont know the seconds, this was done a few years back again at 59kg)

all the best

I don't really think chinups, pressups in a minute or the plank hold have much to do with cardio to be fair but I think if you take the title of the forum as "cardio and fitness" then they all sit well within that general framework and are mostly about improving general conditioning. I think there is a good mix so far.
I was going to say I am really enjoying it but I'm not sure that is the right choice of words.

Boarsome work on losing 27 kilos. I make that one whole sack of spuds which is pretty astonishing when you think about it.

Did my cleans after my mixed cardio session (which included a lung burster on the rower*) using an oly bar and non-standard plates.
I matched you for 17 reps and it was definitely 'testing'

To be fair to you, I had someone calling out the time and knew what I was aiming for.
To be fair to me, my co-ordination went and I smacked myself under the chin which threw me off a bit and I reckon I lost a couple of reps. I really liked them (looking back from a safe distance) and will make them a regular feature on Wednesdays regardless of inclusion.

Have a nice imprint of knurling on my chin but all teeth are present.

*not a Concept2 so it doesn't count, apparently ...details in my journal.

nice chins !!!

i have given powercleans the exercise of the month status , a couple of the ones i chose arent that popular, so c'mon fellas !!

i wont chop and change them but i think either a different challenge every month or mabie switch a couple if they prove unpopular

wall sit will be logged - so if anyone does it i will keep the scores and have it for march, i'll do it over the weekend and as soon as i can im gonna have a trip to reps for a go on the rower
