Tonights training Bench 10 x bar 10 x 60 kg 5 x 100 kg 5 x 2 x 125 kg Bench (feet up) 5 x 2 x 115 kg Enjoyed it tonight, not a maximum effort but not comfortable either, tempted to have another bench session on Friday in stead of an OH.

Fazc Hey, just looking in to another Powerlifting Midlander. Any competition plans soon? Hi mate, you're welcome to pop in any time, I believe you're in Derby so I'm not far away at all, just down the A52. Next comp is North Midlands Divisional a week on Sunday in Horncastle, I did both feds last year but I'm only doing GBPF this year.

Tonights training Deads 10 x bar 10 x 60 kg 5 x 100 kg 5 x 140 kg 3 x 180 kg 2 x 2 x 220 kg 18" Deads 3 x 180 kg 3 x 220 kg 1 x 260 kg 1 x 285 kg (pb) First set was comfortable and I would have got another rep but doubles was the plan, the second set was quite a bit harder than the first. The 18" 285 was hard but there was a little more there.

Tonights training Bench 10 x bar 10 x 60 kg 5 x 100 kg 2 x 120 kg 2 x 130 kg 1 x 135 kg Push press, pulldowns, curls An extra bench session before the comp next week which went well but left me in a lot of pain. Just at the bottom with the 135 and my back cramped up really bad, I pressed it out but the pain was so bad I felt sick.

cracking progress on the bench fella, last year you were having a few problems with it, hopefully it will stay for your next comp I got some more weight off ebay today, so now got including bar approx 300kg of oly kit on the down side though I cant really use it as also went to docs today and have a double Inquinal hernia, so bit of a bummer as been advised i cant really do anything weights wise, but being a tw4t I'm thinking of wearing a support and trying a more BB routine and see how it goes

I'm not really familiar with what can be done for hernias, can it be treated? Is it likely to come back?

I didn't do much but what I did do was good quality.

Best of luck with it mate, i'll be sure to pop in and see how your doing! The strength is coming back with the increased BW, over the Winter I've gone up from the 82.5/83 class to the 90/93 class depending on which fed you're in. Hopefully the 300 will go by Summer. I've got a few targets for Sunday, I'd like to squat 180 or more if it's there on the day, a sub-total of 300 is priority though. I've been competing for 3 years now I think! I did the BDFPA British, European and World's last year as they were all in the uk but I was only happy with the British, I was injured for the other 2.

40 plus Thanks gents, I've just had a deep tissue massage and all ready to go now. Oh yeah, you been visiting Bubbles Sauna again have you...... good luck mate, didnt realise you'd moved up a catergory although I did wonder how you got down to 82.5 as your far thicker set than me and I struggled, so perhaps 90kg may be better for you

Sadly I know where Bubbles is, never been a customer though... yet I think it's a bit of an illusion mate because I've got broad shoulders, I've often been at comps and wondered how some guys were in my class because of they looked massive. I still say I feel and look better as an 82/3 but the injuries I keep picking up and my strength going backwards got to me in the end.

19/02 North Midlands Counties Comp Weighed in at 91.8 kg Squats 160 kg 175 kg (PB) 185 kg (PB) Bench 110 kg 120 kg 125 kg (PB) Deadlift 220 kg 230 kg 242.5 kg (PB) Total 552.5 kg (PB) Great comp, good to meet up with everyone again and some for the first time, I got to lift with Ian Shaw. There was a really good mix of lifters, equipped and un-equipped, male and female, young and not so young and also a very high standard. Ideally today I wanted a squat pb and also a 300 sub-total based on how well training has gone recently. My squatting was good today and although it felt heavy every time I walked out with it I think I was good for at least another 5 kg and maybe 10. A 200 will be my priority for the British in September. Benching was also good, I've got to grips with the comp bench being a little lower than the gym bench and now my arch and foot position is much better, everything went up very smoothly and again at least another 5 kg there today. When it was time for deadlifts I had become very lethargic, warming up was rubbish and when 180 for a single felt heavy I feared the worst. I pulled the 220 but got it all wrong and used my back too much, the 230 was a better effort, I didn't see any point in going for anything less than a PB so I asked for 242.5 which was a 2.5 kg PB, very surprised and happy to get it get it but absolutely nothing more there.
