Who pays out if you win though? SIs it the IG Index is it the FTSE? This is the last thing im still confused about...

IG are just a broker. They broker the trades. The market makers hold stock and sell it to people who want to buy, and buy it from people who want to sell. If you buy a FTSE contract or spread, you are effectively buying shares in all of the FTSE 100 companies (from the market makers). You pay them to buy the contract. If the index goes up and you close your trade, the market makers buy your stock from you and you get the market (selling) price.

Anyone think its gonna carry on going up?

Step away is my advice atm. I follow the US moreso than the FTSE and the wavecount is a bit screwed. We need clearer signals to better prepare an argument for a trade. If 1150 on the SPX is regained and held, the outlook is bullish indeed.

It's a bull market at the moment IMO.  Not for very healthy reasons, more due to the lack of worthwhile returns/inflation hedges elsewhere.

Early reports I read this morning said if it closes above 5600 bull will continue but for how long nobody knows, so its really pays your money and takes your choice.

As wheels has alluded to its going up but with shakey macro and political foundations.

Right decided to give it another go already, yeah i'll probably be posting on here tomorrow with another loss but ive got a good feeling about the daily gold spot (anyone who can look at charts take a look)

Anyway obviously i'll be sleeping tonight so had to put a guaranteed stop on it if things go tits up. Ive just bought and bet £200 with a 15 point guaranteed stop if it goes the other way, so £13.33 a point im betting to go up.

Im hoping to wake up tomorrow to some good news lol, im only really doing this to try and win the £500 back but if it goes pair shaped i'll be much more careful in future.

Steady so its still on and closes at 10:30 tonight, obviously there was a spread which put me in slight negative equity... im still in that for now. The reason i chose the gold spot was because its been going up for the last few weeks and it nose dived and looked like it was going to go back up... If i loose this £200 then im probs gonna just leave it, just did it out of bordem and curiosity last night tbh.

The FTSE100 has plumetted since last night, i probably would of done better backing the FTSE to go down as its come down 25 bloody points but hey we can't read the future

Why Gold? You aren't just trying to second guess charts by gut feeling again are you? You are going to loose a lot of money IMO

There are two outcomes (which are random as your judgement has no foundation):

                1) You loose some money
                2) You gain some money

                1 = not good
2 = not good, as it will encourage you to trade more

And by the way if any of you guys want to loose some money i can give you a crash course on day trading lol

Just pound cost (£XXX per month) in a cheap tracker (low mangement fee tracking the FTSE All Share for example) wrapped in your ISA IMO Blue, and then forget about it. Yes, it's boring though, so maybe not your cuppa tea

Yeah i suppose it would be better off in a savings account it, tbh in a mad kind of way its probably good that i lost this £700... If i had done well at 1st i would of been tempted to bung everything ive got on a trade and probably would of lost it and then hung myself lol. At least its not the end of the world but needless to say im pissed off but fcuk it. Drawing the line.
