and.......? what happened?

Rep1 went up okay, rep2 turned into something of a strainfest marathon
A long way short of a comfortable triple on 120. I'm guessing a couple of months at least.

Have hoisted the white flag on the Shape Up contest as I am facing a very busy week trying to meet a deadline. As a result I can't see me making any more progress so have taken the pics now. I am reasonably pleased with how things have gone although would have expected to see more abs.
Photos aren't great, particularly of the legs as I trained them yesterday and can't flex them at the minute

      Standing relaxed.

            Cheers mate.
As you know, this is the first time I've managed to train a full year in the last 3 without suffering some kind of medical calamity, so that is the biggest bonus as far as I'm concerned

I am thinking I may sue Playtex for making me become girdle-reliant, thereby failing to exercise my abdominals in a satisfactory manner.

Trained bench in a top-secret 45min at 2pm in the otherwise closed gym.
I thought I'd been freezing working in my shed all morning but on entering the gym I now realise it is actually quite warm in my workspace and will never complain again. It was so cold in there my head was ringing.

                          Warm-up (HA!)
Rope crunches 30 x facing out 30x facing in

                          Flat bench
                          60kg x 15 80kg x 12 100kg x 8 100kg x 8 (two sets of 8 may be a pb)

                          Incline Bench
                          60kg x 12 80kg x 8 90kg x 6

                          Incline Flies
35lb x 12 (3 sets) didn't rate these much would have to go a lot heavier but then would fear for shoulders

                          Cable Cross-Over
                          pin7 x 10 (3 sets)

Bit of pec deck that added nothing much.

                          Skullcrusher/Closegrip Superset
                          35kg x 8 each 40kg x 8 each 40kg x 8 each (may have to go heavier)

                          Pulldown/Pushdown Superset
                          stack x 8 each (3 sets)

                          Rope to finish.

Very pleased with that session one of the best in a while strengthwise. Will try and match 2 sets of 8 on 100kg next week and if so will go up to 110 for the second set the week after.

Noticed on hitting the shower that I have a bruise imprint of the bench on my back. Bit worried about that, as I wasn't pressing that heavy, hope it doesn't mean I am getting a bit run down/anaemic.

Update on training in the fridge.
Have developed that nasty, hurty bench pull that feels like it's in the middle of my traps (just where you can't reach) but radiates through to sternum and neck. I would be tempted to acquire some of the illicit diclofenac that was being wafted around the gym the other day but I don't think I'm allowed to take anti-inflammatories in case it gives me an ulcer

Looks like it is just set upper lip to stiff.

You need some NSAIDs Mr Jedi. If you speak nicely to the local GP (try and get a youngish one, preferably under fifty years of age) and generally drag out all of your injuries, you may be able to blag some.

I would write you a script just out of sympathy for the girdle faux pas however, self prescribing could possibly see me struck off, and then how would I pay for the ground rent on my carav...ahem, winnebago!

ChrissieG ...no self-prescribing? Surely that takes about 90% of the fun out of the job
Still not sure I am allowed any NSAIDs because of their effect on the prostaglandins. Although there may be some newer product out there which doesn't have this effect, I wouldn't bank on any of the local GP's knowing about them.

RACK ...I don't think this counts as a medical calamity, more of an inconvenience. I don't think it will stop me from training tonight. You're right though, I should definitely be keeping my big mouth shut instead of tempting fate like that.

The weighted chins were 'kin 'larious, new respect was born for anyone who weighs 15stone+ who does chins. Will be like learning chins all over again. Great

Met my destiny face to face in terms of 50kg curls on the Oly bar. I didn't like it much when I did them before and I don't think anything has changed. Massive pump in the arms by this stage, making the preacher bench stuff quite painful.
