ORIGINAL: Osagi ORIGINAL: Smacky OK. Chill pill administered. I've had enough. Women (and Osagi) are always right, and I'm wrong. There is no such thing as sexism. I'm off to do the hoovering, before Mrs. Smacky gets home from the pub...... Lol Come on, I didn't say sexism didn't exist, I was just prompting you for some better examples to continue the debate. OK - I can better that one. The company I work for still have female staff on their books on contracts dating back to the Eighties. They are entitled to leave at 17:30, whereas men employed at the same time were contracted to work until 18:00. Yep - they did (do) the same job- but finish 30 minutes earlier (I assume in order to put their hubbies tea on... )
ORIGINAL: pigeonwarrior sweet mate I love watching programs about aas. If it wasnt for the fact they can make you go bald I would do them now, the day I go bald though Ill be straight on them.

Everyone has been men bashing for so long, no one really knows where to draw the line and women want it both ways. Advertising is interesting as they simply make out that the man is incapable of anything!! I recently went to a debate with Germaine Greer and she basically said that it had gone too far and she believed that we had demasculinised (?) the male, which makes it even harder for them. It was not her intention for equality to have done this but in its reinvention 'men bashing' was now normality. Men bashing was Germaine Greer's expression.

A couple of my female bosses at work are well known for blurting out comments such as 'men, you're all the same...' during meetings '...better then women' is the unwelcome response they often get back from their male counterparts. But the guys do seem to take their 'male bashing' comments in a light hearted fashion, whereas if it was one of the guys that decided to suddenly interject 'bloody women, you're all the same...' - well, I hate to think how that would go down! To be honest Osagi, not many males alive today can remember when we were not the butt of every condescending remark and put down. We have just grown accustomed to these put downs and criticisms. I opened the door for a young lady the other day at the cinema, she screwed her face up and said she was quite capable of opening it herself, so I let it go and barged through, to which I heard the comment 'Men'.

ORIGINAL: just t http://islamineurope.blogspot.com/2007/08/sweden-immigrants-more-likely-to-have.html LOL not a credible source or anything http://www.springerlink.com/content/bl32r53520152367/ "On the other hand, the results reconfirm that, in Sweden, the risk of RTI among young drivers from different socioeconomic backgrounds varies." "Young drivers from manual worker families have 80% higher risk for RTIs compared to drivers in families with salaried employee parents" To be honest I believe that. I see a lot of asians driving around in really fast cars like maniacs and even on the telly shows you see a lot of them doing it with even less respect for the law than white boys. The difference between asian boy racers and white ones is IMHO the asians always seem to have bigger more powerful motors.

ORIGINAL: JohnKerr2 ORIGINAL: Smacky 1. Car Insurance aimed at women due to the fact they are less of a risk. Less likely to have accidents. Fewer pay-outs. Insurance companies deal in risk and statistics. Makes perfect sense. True - but if an insurance company came up with statistics to show, lets say, that afro-caribbean drivers were more likely to have accidents than caucasian drivers and started asking questions about racial origin on their proposal forms - can you imagine the uproar that would ensue?

In a thread about should gays be allowed to give blood he said statistics shouldnt be used and everythin shud be done on meritt. Now hes changed his tune and statistics are great. Im pretty sure when the medical community decide who can give blood and not they deal with risk and statistics.

I have to say that as a woman, I do get a lot of advantages like when I went to Ayia Napa with my sister for 2 weeks: we didn't spend a penny on night club entries & didn't pay for drinks in clubs & bars: they didn't want to let us pay... Which was great! Then when I go to Paris, we usually don't pay to get in night clubs!

If you did the sums on it you'd probably find that non-white people had a higher accident rate than whites - and this could be because they tend to live around densely populated Urban areas. For this reason they do pay extra premiums, on an individual basis. Crash a car in Dartmoor and you'll probably hit a tree (or a sheep!). Crash it in Dartford and you could take out a bus que, or someone's Merc. I'd also guess that some groups (specificially, certain Asian communities) are vastly more likely to have their extended family in the car when they have their accident, which means the personal injury (typically the most expensive value paid out) will be much higher than for races less likely to be close to their extended family. IE there are socialogical factors in determining someone's likelyhood of having an accident (and the size of the subsequent claim) that have nothing to do with their driving ability, and everything to do with their location and social situation. My point is that they probably DO pay more, on average. But not because they're not white, but because of their lifestyle. A white person in the same situation would pay the same. Which is as it should be.
